Shield Generator Attack: Attack is directly damaging shield generator

So how can be this? Do they have reverberating cascade lasers? And furthermore, are shield generators useless against ATRs?

Precicely. ATR is meant for high notoriety players to be scared away. But since they have revb cascade lasers any hulltank will withstand a full swarm of these for minutes. Ofcourse, FDev assumed here that once the shields go down the fight is over. Just gonna assume here they never really used a hulltank before, nor even know what it is.

Or possibly didn't want to just kill you all off immediately. You have a chance to get away. I dare say that it they want them could snuff any player out in less than a second.

Remember those InstaKill NPCs?

There is nothing to investigate but only things to acknowledge like 3.0 C&P (link)

Advanced Tactical Response
• Authorities now have access to new security vessels: ATR (Advanced Tactical Responders)
• ATR ships are kitted out with top tier hardware, in exclusive, customised configurations. They are extremely competent pilots.
• ATR ships can be summoned once a Commander has committed enough crimes in a jurisdiction.
• The security of the system determines the level of crime before they are summoned

• ATR ships arrive with full knowledge of their target and are pre cleared to arrive "weapons hot".
• Once ATR ships respond to crimes, they will continue to respond until the Commander leaves the system.
Another piece of the crime consequences puzzle, ATR should also help mitigate Commanders attempting to exert excessive influence in the background simulation.
Many thanks for the referencing the original source, that info helps a lot.

Now, just to comment, bear in mind that perhaps not every functionality appears in the official documentation, don't you think so?
Maybe there are some subtle variations depending on the system, other than the ATR arrival time, or maybe there are some other un-tested scenarios that might result in ATRs appearing when -you- are being attacked.
I think I'm not the only one that has experienced this, but I'm double checking on my own to see if It has been just my imagination.

Yes I think that this could be by design, to not to instant-kill.

Of course this reinforces the usability of the hull tanks in this kind of scenario, as already pointed out.

I get that, but the 3.0 C&P is not a new thing and me as most of other players already tested a lot of things regarding how it works in order to adapt to it.

Anyway, if you want to test ATR response without getting notoriety, destroy your target by ramming them (ganker tips)

I can easily tank and kill a swarm of ATRs wit ha hulltank. It's about as challenging as regular PvE. They are anti-shield-only NPCs with no mentionable threat to hulltanks. Any basic NPC with seekers and/or PAs are more of a threat to hulltanks than ATR vehicles.

Yeah but who goes hulltanking nowadays.
Besines I think they do a little more damage than a 'basic NPC', just my impressions.

Thanks for the tips, and well, we'll see ;)

Hi all,

Those ATRs in their vultures destroy my shield generator in a couple of shots. Literally 0% health even in a single shot.

I read this in my HUD:

View attachment 181230

I thought that the only weapons able to do this were the Reverberating Cascade torpedoes and mines, but when I inspect the ATRs modules I only see two burst lasers.

In fact there are no torpedoes or mines in the areas, just ATRs shooting at me from long distances.

So how can be this? Do they have reverberating cascade lasers? And furthermore, are shield generators useless against ATRs?

Is this weapon exclusive for ATRs or can regular players mount it? How to defend against this kind of attack?

Many thanks for your comments.
This is one of FDev's over-the-top responses to PvP. Not sure if it is only in high-security systems or not but it is ridiculous and another immersion-breaking sledgehammer of a change.

Revb cascade pulse lasers are prolly engineered (yes by NPCs) and hence do slightly more damage but still, nothing worth to be considered. People who run paper thin hulls are at fault because every ship should have a fallback around 1k hull min. That is sufficient to tank and kill ATR vehicles. More hull means more tank. And to answer your question: I do. I still run hulltanks.

I do like to hull tank too, I was meaning that destroying shields in one shot goes against a large % of builds out there, if not most of them.
