Took a break, came back started having fun, sold main ship by mistake - drat :-(

Hey all,

Been a player since beta / 2014 days. Have always played in VR and always loved ED (and infact the original back in '84) but unfortunately life got in the way and I stopped playing for a while.

Have dipped in and out a few times, but mostly just to go on an exploration jaunt then make a mistake and die... so end up making no cash LOL.

Built up to an Asp Explorer which I had levelled up and was happy with with the hope one day that I might be able to afford an Anaconda (if I keep from crashing long enough to make some actual money !).

So I jumped back in to see how everything had moved on and was again enjoying another stint of exploration but stupidly decided to explore a planet in the dark and died.
Ah well.. Back in the bubble I discovered that planet scan runs were reasonably lucrative (well compared to what I've been used to) and decided to try out a few other new ships... hated them... so was going back to the ASP when disaster... I sold my beloved vessel by mistake instead of the ship I was in (and I I can't even remember what it was called I'm so disgusted with myself).

Logged out.. can't go back in yet. At the moment I can't bear to have to find / engineer all the equipment that I'd built up over the last few years.. Dang.

Anyhow... not a rant... just sharing.

ps.I guess those of you that have built credits fast* and spent way more time than me in the game will think... 'who cares, get some more credits and rebuy'... but to me it's like damn, I'd worked hard for the setup I had and was happy with it but lost it in a moment of sheer stupidity... only I am to blame of course as I didn't read the message properly and thought I was selling another ship). Don't judge :)

I've read of other commanders doing the same whether by mistake or choice turn regret. I've read, (don't quote me), that the support team are unsung heroes of the game and have returned ships more often than not. Consider writing a ticket to support:

I'm sure if you explain the situation, they'll be happy to help. If not, you at least tried and maybe you can find it in yourself to try and rewrite your journey of being a great explorer!

It generally don't advocate reaching out to support to restore something not bug related, but this is one I can get behind. Reach out to support and see if they will restore your ship. Good luck and I hope they do.

Ps: engineering has changed. It's easier and no more rng casino now. Also there are material traders. You probably will be re-engineering that Asp anyway, guardian fsd boosters and whatnot.

PS: no VR in Odyssey as things currently stand, keep an eye on the forum and add your voice to the discussion...

I know that the risk is that people will indulge in real like money transactions to gain in game stuff, but I wish there was a mechanism whereby I could fly to some port and contribute toward players such as OP getting a ship back on the road. Maybe credits, maybe a module, maybe some mats, maybe the whole ship.

Wing missions. (Supposed to be) easy enough to do for an end game CMDR in solo, wing up and share the rewards.
