I can't remember. @Morbad can answer this better than I can.Really? By how much roughly? It's not everyday I learn something new in Elite.
I take exception with the way you say it boss, and the fact that even without your many years of experience I know that there are pluses and minuses to what ever choice we make.Of course I'm a pvper but I also do a lot of pve and have been building ships to perfect the craft for years and teach people how to build ships in multiple different discords. The only thing I'm not that good at is AX builds.
Emissive increases the gimbal arc, yes you only need corrosive on one and incendiary covers two resistances.
It's not just my opinion, it's the opinion of all the best pvpers and pve-ers.
Use what you wanna use, I'm just letting you know how to make your ship build the best it can be from my years of experience. Take it or leave it.
I'm not saying you're wrong, you're just not doing it the most efficient and effective way possible.I take exception with the way you say it boss, and the fact that even without your many years of experience I know that there are pluses and minuses to what ever choice we make.
It's like how you build your shields. If most of what you run into is absolute (PvP), then resistances are useless, but if the large majority that you run into is Thermal (PvE) then there is going to be a line where resistance has a greater impact than raw MJ. It's one of those things that coriolis helps with.
And then take this:
'Emissive increases the gimbal arc' - I actually looked into this and couldn't find any proof. Even if it is true, it adds 100% thermal load, which depending on your ship, might do bad things.
Samson is my hauler. Am I taking her into PvP? Nope. But I stack Boom hauling missions with her and she eats PvE pirates as snacks. If 4 or 5 Anaconda pirates jump into the same interdicted space, which has happened, I'll boost and low or high wake out.
The way you present your vast years of experiences - your saying I did it wrong. Except that since I'm successfully doing what I built her to do ....?

How often does a PvE NPC ship run silent?Gimbal tracking arc is related to thermal signature; colder running ships, or those that have gone silent or used a heatsink will have a very narrow tracking cone.
Emissive maxes out thermal signature for sensor purposes, and enables the full tracking arc irrespective of the actual internal temperature of the target.
All you need to do to demonstrate the effect is to engage silent running, or start dumping heatsinks, then shoot at a buddy who is using gimbaled weapons. You will resolve enough to be targeted as long as you've fired at your opponent in the last few seconds, but as long as you are silent/cold their gimbals won't track beyond a very narrow arc. Drop silent while hot, or get struck with emissive and the arc will immediately expand to full range.
Emissive is also a binary effect; it does not stack and has no cool down. You can put it on your smallest hardpoint and the extra thermal load will be irrelevant for most any combat vessel.
Any ship that has any guided munitions or gets a significant fraction of it's firepower from gimbaled weapons should have emissive on something. Personally, I prefer to have it on a fixed LR or focused pulse laser in the smallest hardpoint available...though with a ship that cannot rotate well, a turreted pulse may be best.

nods and I've lost lock on PvE ships on occasion because of it, or else I was getting hit by target lock breaker. They don't run silent, but they do use heat sinks - either in conjunction with SCB or all by themselves.
Still, claiming that emissive is increasing the gimbal traking arc is rather wrong.
Emissive will just counter the reduction of gimbal tracking arc due to low thermal sig. Which is quite a difference
I somewhat agree and I apologize if I came off as being overly authoritative. In all honesty I should have left this alone, but I absolutely hate absolute advice given authoritatively, which isn't actually absolute or correct.
