Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Hence why I have a scanner as my secondary when I'm not in combat. That way if I accidentally fire, nobody cares because it's just a system scan. Not like I'm gonna have my finger on the trigger if I'm not expecting a fight.

Well, you see something new every day. About two jumps from Shin is a system called "Tripitaka". I should stop Monkey-ing around.
Told my kids about Monkey, including Tripitaka, over breakfast the other day. I showed them a video of the opening credits on my 'phone. They collectively looked at me as though I was actually born in a rock up a mountain many centuries ago.

Don't feel bad. I get about the same reaction when discussing the things I grew up with around kids who think The Regular Show is the height of cartoons.

"Monkey" was always a high-point of the the end of school-day television entertainment! They don't know what they are missing :) I can still hear "The nature of Monkey was irrepressible !!" very clearly in my head when thinking about the titles :D

Lol they have genuinely thought I was joking on numerous occasions when describing my childhood.

Lol absolutely!! I used to walk home to save the bus money, the biggest challenge was making sure that I still made it home in time. That 'irrepressible' line just elicited an instant and genuine smile of pure happiness so those old shows must have got something right.

Will do, thank you. There was something 'The Water Margin' which I used to enjoy at the time, too.

Aye, that was brutal. If you're in the mood and have a PS4, I can highly recommend the new game Ghost of Tsushima, it is amazing.

Here's one Monkey film I liked ( I think you can watch the whole thing on YT with subtitles), IIRC, it's not for the fainthearted or very small children.

The series on Netflix is called New Legends of Monkey. Look, it's not a patch on the Monkey Magic we knew, but it's oil. Has some humour an the effects are better. New series out today!

There was a Made for TV movie in the late 90's/early 2000's about a PR Exec (I think) who gets pulled into a new journey of Monkey to stop a threat the PR Exec unleashed while visiting China. Think the movie was called The Monkey King: Journey to the West. Movie it's self was fun, but IMO the ending where he pulls out his Pen/Staff and fights off demons that attack the board meeting he's in, that was epic.

And for animation there are so many classics. Even the older dirivitive stuff like the many Scoobie Doo clones HB made over the years are far superior to what kids watch these days. Heck, even the shows for young kids were better. At the very least they didn't rot your brain.

Although the Banana Splits and The Monkees could be pretty "out there".

The Monkeees was hilarious fun. The live action skits in Banana Splits were stupid, but the animation shorts were often amusing.

EDIT: Then again, the same could be said of many shows that bracketed animation shorts with live action comedy skits such as The Super Mario Bros Super Show.

I'm in cooldown mode after trying to walk someplace for lunch. Every place I tried was only open for drive through or delivery, even the sit down restaraunts. Only place open for walking in off the street was a coffee shop that only serves coffee. Got exercise in, which was half my goal for the trip. But still didn't get anything for lunch yet. It's on order.

EDIT: Once I've eaten and no longer feel like a sweaty disgusting mess, I'll probably sign in for a while.

Had a bit of a massacre in the kitchen earlier when my youngest managed to get their hands on one of the carrot slime bags and sprayed the thing empty over the entire length of the kitchen counter, where I also had a little pile of clean laundry stacked. I don't think I'm going to manage to squeeze in my hour of ED this evening. 😥

Yikes! Wait, carrot slime?!

Still, always annoying when real life interferes. Then again, real life always takes priority IMO.

My SO dropped by five minutes after writing and offered to switch places. Lucky break. Flying as I'm writing this. 🤩

Lucky you. I'm dealing with far too many things which cropped up in the last hour. All of which mean I can't focus on ED.

EDIT: One of which is a horrific crash from the bathroom as the ceiling did in fact give out due to water damage.
