Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

Here’s the best part, if you haven’t figured it out yet. Once your tritium tank is empty, and you want to refill it from your hold, you must first transfer it to your ship and then donate it to the tritium depot. Pretty cool game mechanic, huh?

I got separated from my carrier today due to some hard-to-escape Orange Sidewinder errors, coupled with a Hyperdiction. I wound up stranded for a while, unable to jump out of the system to anywhere.

Eventually, I managed to get to an uninhabited system and call my carrier to me there.

This picture was the result. Perhaps worth all the trouble. :)

Wait... what? You can call your carrier to you!? OK, I need to look into that!

I visited a triple Bromellite hot spot yesterday to pick up 50 units. Turned out to only be double Bromellite with additional LTD. Quite a trip really but I wanted to make some use of my mining Python. I've not used that since Borann days so it probably needs some surface deposit kit. I'm not sure what that game is art the moment.
The CZ low I dropped into with my Vulture seemed harder than before with higher bounties. I upgraded with a guardian shield reinforcement and two burst lasers. Did this upgrade my opponents too?

Well, as long as there’s fuel in the depot you can tell your carrier to jump from your Carrier Management screen (in your right panel).

I just meant I jumped it to the system I was in.

Great stuff, thanks. Handy feature.

So now, as to what I'm up to, is trying to find a handy, preferebaly in the near bubble, ring for tritium lasering so I can store oodles of the stuff. The plan is, yep, a long journey, further than I've ever gone before once I'm stocked up. I want to see weird stuff and see unusual sites.

I'm hoping to get enough carto data for the UC and mine enough stuff along the way to start recovering costs.

Onward!

EDIT Found a hotspot. Carrier summoned.

EDIT 2: Looking good. T9 in ring, 400 limpets loaded. Mining ahoy later! :D

I've also decided on a long trip. I came back to the bubble to get a module I forgot to store, and decided to sell off all of my minerals and start with an empty hold again (except for Tritium).

I was unable to sell my Painite for top price due to persistent Orange Sidewinder errors, so I settled for selling it at a lower price in a system I could actually get to. I also had a few LTDs and even fewer VOs. I sold it all. Then I bought a bunch of Tritium, and still ended up 700 million richer than I started. Mining is still seriously lucrative.

PS: I discovered that if you get that Orange Sidewinder error, you will continue to get it over and over unless you completely restart the game. I had to task-kill it because something was hung, even though it appeared to be running (I could enter the game and fly and try to jump, but jumps would always fail). Just FYI if it happens to you.

Did a bunch of hauling of Tritium to fill my hold 2/3 full (about 16,600 T), and I have 1000T in the depot, so I'm prepared to go...wherever I go.

I'm starting out by heading out toward some of the older Guardian ruins. I haven't seen them in a long while.

After that, who knows? :)

Wanting to follow you guys out to the distant edges of the galaxy, but probably in the opposite direction, north, south, east , west,
which way is up any ways...
Jumped back to the bubble and configured a large T9 for ring mining, way slower that the cutter, again all lances and limpets..
Looking for the really good hot spot. I currently measure hot spot efficiency by the number of 100 limpets used, prospectors and collectors.
So, if 100 limpets gets 56t then 56% efficient, cost of mining equals cost of limpets plus wear and tear on the ship.
56t of tritium costs 5656 crds to mine... 👍
