Taronga Zoo pack

The Australian pack was a nice start, however I feel like inspiration was taken from the Australian zoo and not the Taronga zoo. While it may have the name Australian zoo, in my opinion it is the least Australian zoo there is, and the Taronga zoo holds the name for a true Australian zoo as it houses much more Australian species. I don't even enjoy going to Sydney and am a Brisbanite, however even I think Taronga zoo is way more Aussie and I would pay to see Taronga over the Australian zoo again if I was to pick a zoo to go to.

Enough rabble however, the point is, if another Australian pack were to come out, I would like to see native species found in the taronga zoo in the next Australian animal pack.

First priority
Tasmanian Devil*
Tree Kangaroo
Emu
Wombat
Frill necked lizard (Exhibit)

Alternate options or future pack choices
Quokka
Echidna
Platypus+
Bilby
Rock Wallaby
Corroboree frog (Exhibit)
Mertens Water monitor

*Taronga zoo has a conservation breeding project for the Tasmanian devil(TD), it used to have a public enclosure before the refurb, but even so other zoos around australia still have TD exhibits.
+ Healesville sanctuary, Taronga zoo and other zoos have begun successsfully breeding Platypus since 2008 and as a result are now able to export to other zoos around the world to help bring more awareness to this species.

It will be interesting to see if frontier does decide to revisit previous regions to add more animals that were missed. Personally I don’t see frontier doing this I could be wrong but I just don’t see it. Honestly I’m not to sure I’d even want them to as there’s still so many animals that I’d love to see get in yet. Sure a few like the musk ox,Tasmanian devil or wombat, and many South American animals that didn’t get in would have been great but I would rather have a well rounded mix of animals from various regions then have numerous from 2 or 3 regions. I think there’s still potential for a Central American pack to make it in which would give some South American animals missed a chance to get them in. I think the most important thing is to introduce some aquatic animals even if swimming animations never materialize and aviary at some point. By introducing these two elements at some point gives frontier a much more rounded game in the end.

I'm not sure we'd get Australia part two but I imagine that once the main continental/geographic packs are done there will be packs organised another way and there's no reason why animals like the emu, Tasmanian devil, musk ox, Arctic fox and capybara couldn't be something we see in the future.

While I agree with markun that I don't see it as likely, I do think it is in some ways disappointing - South America and Australia especially have an enormous wealth of unique fauna that can't be done justice with just one pack each. While we might see more animals in future packs (a tropical pack could cover more South American animals, for example), I honestly think it would be worth revisiting them down the line.

Not the biggest fan of creating a specific zoo pack. My first impression is: not interesting enough.

Really? my thought was just the most mainstream popular/iconic animals from Australia.

I don't think they were inspired by any specific zoo either. I would dispute that it's the most mainstream, popular or iconic animals though. In that case there would be an emu for starters and probably Tasmanian devil too. I really don't know what criteria they used to choose those four species.

I agree on the emu, but going with a more distincitive look compared to the Ostrich i understand the choice.
I mentioned this before but if I had to name 4-5 Austalian species in 10 seconds without any notice, Tasmanian Devil wouldn't be among them. Many would even think about the cartoon before the actual animal when you mention Tasmanian Devil.
(Kangaroo/Koala/Crocodile/Wallaby/Dingo would be the first ones that would pop up)

But to stay on-topic: Not a fan of very specific RL zoo DLC, I think other themes would fit the game much better.

Honestly, my suspicion is that they picked the cassowary because it's "flashier", or because they only took a superficial look at what is considered "Australian".

Edit: To clarify, they have shown that they don't care too much about animals being similar to other animals (Arctic wolf, for example), so that doesn't seem like a good assumption. Not to mention that the emu is about as different from the ostrich as the jaguar is from the tiger, even more so if you literal taxonomy into consideration (not even part of the same genus). The cassowary has bright colours and a neat crest and there are popular memes about it being "dinosaur" (never mind that every bird is a dinosaur, indisputably), so it was picked. The emu is more drab at a glance and more "obvious". I suspect they thought they were pulling a fast one and giving everyone a nice surprise. I'm sure they didn't expect so many of us to be disappointed.

I think the "backlash" from the Arctic Wolf could be a reason for more visual diversity on animal species. Like you said, the cassowary is more flashier - it has more appeal to the general player. It's a guessing game on that part :D

I'm not convinced it's many. Some people really wanted the emu in this game but with every DLC it's a complaint about missing species (even with 20 animals that would've happened). Going with the overall reaction - I think the Cassowary was a good choice for many players.
