Album of images from Dev Diary 2 video

In some games, but not in games like Ratchet and Clank which goes for a cartoon look, not in indie games created by smaller developers.

An not in games which aim to create a whole planet.

Yeah some games have an artistic style, and others have a more photo realistic style such as in the video.

Did you see Starfield or Elder Scrolls 6 graphics? Nope so you're just guessing.

Actually I linked a Starfield image above (it's from an unconfirmed leak though).

We still know very little about it. Also there are many games under development that aren't announced yet.
So it makes little sense to compare the graphical fidelity of a game in pre alpha to games that aren't announced yet.
By the way, I'd say Elite looks quite good for a 6 years old game.

It does make sense, because when they release screenshots they can be scrutinized. That Unreal Engine 5 demo shows what games will look like in the near future.

By the way, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Cyberpunk 2077 have significantly more detail in the models and environments. It's a different art style, but pushes graphical capabilities further than ED. ED doesn't have the latest bells and whistles. That results in a bit cartoony looking environments. SC also looks better, because they keep upgrading the graphics.

Cyberpunk has more detail because it's from 2021 and not 2014, it also doesn't try to represent an entire galaxy. By the way, Elite also keeps upgrading graphics. Compare planet surfaces from 2015 to the alpha footage.
Still trying to figure out which point you are making. Obviously there will always be games with better graphics, that's nothing anybody needs to care about though.

The "entire galaxy" excuse doesn't fly, because SC has significantly better graphics and full sized planets with entire cities. Yeah ED is an old game, but they could also upgrade the graphics.

People will care about whatever they like to care about. CD Project Red offers a free graphics update for the Witcher 3. It includes ray-tracing and a “range of visual and technical improvements”. Witcher 3 was originally released on May 18, 2015. ED = December 16, 2014. Which isn't far apart yet CDPR bothered to upgrade the graphics.

I guess everyone can tell the difference between a handful of hand made assets and procedural generation of billions of planets.

They do.

Again, Elite also gets a graphic update with Odyssey.

Again the amount of planets is not an excuse for not updating the graphics. Even Minecraft (first released on 18 November 2011) was updated with ray tracing lol.

The graphics aren't much improved in Odyssey.

Oranges, apples, and a (broken) banana.

For the last time, they do upgrade the graphics. If you can't seen the difference between Odyssey and Horizons you don't have much credibility in a discussion about graphics.

For the last time, the graphics are Not much better in Odyssey compared to Horizons or Beyond. You clearly can't see it and lack critical judgement.

If they add ray-tracing it would be a big improvement.
