Pulse Wave Analyzer Hotfix soon, please?

My CMk4 has only 2 utility mounts below, there is no center position
I'm referring to the view out of the window...I'm unable right now to screenshot it cos I'm not on the game right now, but I meant...in the view out of the t9 (I'm well away from any NPCs so it's quite safe (although I need 4 pips on weapons and the other 2 on engines (so I can get faster than 40m/s) and none on shields so bumping snowballs is a no-no) the main window clearly shows the yellow ones (don't eat yellow snow, kids) but when they move into the windows the other side of the window frame the glow peters out to not as glowy, but show up clearly again when I yaw left or right. Iirc, my PWA is in slot 4

Evening commanders,
A week or so ago I stumbled across a couple of Void Opal hot-spots, Over the last two or three nights when I got in from work I have traversed/reversed my way through them.
Nothing serious, just plugging along listening to some music and I made around 185m in three nights, at my pace!

There is no other scenario in the game at the moment where I can make that amount doing anything else in the time I played using my 'used and approved' farting about after work method.

I'm not sure what's right and what's wrong and I find the constant herding/reaction, tactics/comments on these forums disconcerting "to say the least"

But- Do I really need it? The dough I mean.

I find trying to discover something and extract it for perceived gain (even in game gain 'pssst' it means nothing) Is a pretty good pastime for me.

Although as Stated above "There is no other scenario in the game at the moment where I can make that amount doing anything else"
This is why i haven't participated in the Carrier thing for now which Really is the Driver for all these forum discussions.
Not interested in carriers because I want to bumble along at my pace an enjoy it, and to not be beholden.

I am guilty of accumulating credits the same as anyone else, in some cases to a far, far lesser degree even though I have the ships and engineering I want for now.
If the game wasn't broken "this covers a plethora of issues in my opinion" no-one would be having any discussions at all.

Here's to Free Speech

Pug

Sure, "dude." Getting all emotional and personal without actually addressing the arguments will certainly solve the issue.
This is how religion works. But science and software development - not really. We can all dance around in circles, singing "fix it, fix it, fix it".
If 10 people would do it, 50 people or 500, which group do you think would be more likely to find a solution?
It's actually a Very good analogy if you untwist your panties.

I would be happy if frontier could allocate just one human being to communicate with us concerning issues, bugs, etc... that's the most aggravating part of this whole game. It's as if THEY HONESTLY DONT CARE!!! And they wonder why the servers arent full.....TALK TO US!!!! FOR GODS SAKE!!! WE WANT TO LOVE YOUR GAME BUT YOU GUYS AT FDEV MAKE THAT REALLY HARD TO DO!!!!
Imagine replying to all the poopoo and diatribe and really quite insightful comments in this entire forum every time some one opened their socially acceptably covered mouth. I wouldn't want the job to opine on everyone's opinion that for a job.

I ran some personal tests on the PWS a couple of days ago. I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with it. I think the problem is that in Fdevs attempt to stop the SLF exploit they accedentally made it so asteroid content doesn't spawn untill you're right on top of them. I'm sure it will be fixed, but it might be a bit more complicated than fixing the scanner.

It's not true. Pulse Wave Analyzer is still bugged. The problem is, when you scan, nothing appears, if you fly slower and wait 20-30 seconds, scans will appear. There is a "workaround", which is ridiculous, to fly Flight Assist off and rotate the ship to find out that the asteroids are scanned in the back space, not frontal. Also, many Void Opal cores are weak, even if it says "pristine" reserves and I know how to mine, I never drop in the "gap of death" and know where to search for cores. 7-8 months ago, even a small Void Opal spot was rich in asteroids and PWA worked nice back then. Frontier has nerfed the opals in a patch, 3-4 months ago, when they "balanced" the resources in spots.
Void Opal mining is still doable, just it needs more time, the load is smaller. Some people do not mine deep core for profit, for that, laser mining exists, some people are mining deep core because is more challenging, more relaxing and involves a bit more gameplay. Laser mining is staying with a coffee and hear the money coins roll. Sure, it great to be a rich commander and I want a Carrier myself, but doing it by enjoying and sensing that you have to earn by working. Just not that hard to extreme, by not fixing the PWA.
Issue tracker is full of complains and I thing they left it unfixed intentionally. Why? I have no idea. They must have a reason.
Still, the game is great and let's enjoy it :)

Why? I have no idea. They must have a reason.

Here's my reasoning as to why they've 'fixed' the PWA:

Mr theyamiks poked fun at Mr Braben with his 'no one activity should be more favourable than any other activity'. Mr Braben saw the video, in which his statement seemed a bit silly, and demanded that mining was nerf-batted. Hence the PWS 'tweak'.

Just my 2 pence worth ;)

Mr Braben does dinners and prize givings, not TheYamiks videos.

I am not familiar with Frontier people names :( I have deepest respect for Frontier and for such a game that I have no word better than "love". The accuracy, the gameplay, everything.
But sometimes, I wonder why a developer or a producer, doesn't listen to players wish ...

Just imagine if the PWS worked in the super simple and logical fashion of just highlighting the material the hotspot is for, along with a couple of logical associated others, showing the 'heat' for the amount of those materials in it. Done...

At the moment - when the PWS is supposedly even working correctly - all the PWS does in reality is highlight 'here be new mechanics'. Nothing to do with what you're looking for.

I just can't fathom how so many of the mechanics for Mining 2.0, and its balance, are so poorly conceived. Why weren't the issues ironed out at design time, or worse case during internal testing. [sigh]

Finding lemon cores was never easy. You had to work for finding a motherlode asteroid.
Even when PWA worked the way you needed (highlighting in front, not in the back), you had to search for a motherlode.
I just find ridiculous that I need to get dizzy sometimes from making my Cutter a spinning twister.

I'd bet 10,000,000 Arx that if the PWA was broken in a way that ONLY showed core asteroids (none of the fakes), Frontier would have fixed that "terrible" bug the week after it was discovered. But because this is a bug that ruins gameplay rather than enhances it, Frontier ignores it.

Frontier's QA lacks both Q and A, and boy does it ruffle my feathers!

(I just started mining again, hence why I am here in this thread)

Complaining to Frontier about this PWA issue is like:

But if we do it long enough, maybe, just maybe, we'll get through to them.

Even the "bring back the ADS" crowd got an answer from Frontier eventually.

This sadly sums it up, am glad to see though that quite a lot of people actively do that by now, not only here but also on yt comments and streamchats etc.

In regards to this being a core feature - no pun intended - its mindboggling for how long the bug is acknowledged and nothing is being said and/or done.

Fingers crossed for the downtime tomorrow... My gut tells me there will be silence and tumbleweeds until Odyssey and an actual fix might be in there...

And yes, I don't fly in a straight line. And? Not flying in a straight line is effectively widening your scanning window, much more effective than tuning your FOW. Obviously.
Flying in a straight line, and selecting the hot spot marker or some other feature to keep straight, is recommended in VA mining videos, because it reduces the risk of firing limpets at already depleted roids, and fields are big enough that you can fly straight for a long time.

If following that advice means that pilots are missing viable asteroids on that long run, that's a problem, isn't it?

Just recorded a clip

As you can see, the biggest portion of my view in the front is effectively a blindspot, there are occasional glowing ones at the outer edge of the screen.

Compare the glowing ones when looking forward to the ones when looking backward.

I noticed you use the external cameras to look back. Have you tried turning the entire ship around and seeing if yellow roids now appear?

Of course, as a matter of fact, since this problem exists, I do reverski-pulsing-boost-break-coremining, lol :D

It behaves just like you would expect, when doing reverski and pulsing their glowing behaves as if the ship were to be turned forward, this also makes me assume that the PWA is just showing the problem but the culprit is elsewhere, seeminglly as others have pointed out before me, the roids in front (direction of travel) seem not to be loaded in time, somehow idk.
