I really do hope it, but with Odyssey approaching fdevs focus is somewhere else. Though quite a few games have added crossplay, so why not ED at some point.
As a PS4 (now PS5) CMDR the galaxy can be really empty, even in open in the bubble. So crossplay would definitely increase the immersion but probably also the frustration of many players, as being ganked becomes much more likely

I'm not interested in dressing up to play this game. I only do it in certain private situations.
The game & it's peer to peer structure seems ideally suited to cross-play between platforms, and instancing filters are either already present or could be added without major changes. Any objections to it seem to be inherent differences between PCs & consoles rather than within the game itself, it's as though the game was designed with cross-play in mind.
So yes, I think it will happen eventually, and if it doesn't it won't be because anyone thinks it shouldn't happen.

Unfair for consoles:
No HOTAS or mouse/keyboard, no internet in 2nd window, no multi display. PC runs the game faster.
Sony would lose future game sales , unless a way they could monetise with arx?
Could happen for box, but same problem. The salt from controller only players ....
Does that imply a 'soon TM ' I wonder then?
