Taxi!

What’s everyone using as their Bubble Bus?
You need to get from one end of the bubble to the other, what’s your preference?

I was torn between the DBX and Krait Phantom. In the end I went with this fully engineered Phantom Build:-

50LY+ jump range, 500+ speed, can handle itself in a fight (although I don’t go looking for action in this, I certainly don’t panic when it finds me... those Beams will fire literally forever and I have enough shields and armour to last), 2 second KWS for the payout, DSS and SRV if I come across anything pretty or need a few mats, I carry 8 limpets and have 32t cargo if I find anything.

To get me from A to B, I really like this thing, but... what’s your choice?

AspX - The ship that took me to #1 on the AXI Ace leaderboard needed a new job after being retired as I just couldnt bring myself to part with :)

That ship which I will need at the destination. That was long ago.
Now my taxi is FC.

well, i guess thats true... but i find i use both... hard to justify for me jumping the carrier if my dbx is 3 jumps away... unless i am engineering a ship with bad jump range... the dbx just does it faster for certain things..

If you need to do missions you will pick ship which can do that missions, if you will be mining, you will pick miner that is my point. All my fleet was in Jameson back that days.

If we are defining TAXI... as... go somewhere far and fast and then switch ship to do opperation... then yes... its the carrier all the way...

If we are defining Taxi... as... go somewhere far and fast to,,, mine mats, light duty engineering or scanning.. then DBX

But yes... Carrier is pulling more weight in this area now. UNLESS... its only a 8 min or less transfer for me.

edit
I still have no idea what to put in the empty C2 slot. I might fit a guardian shield booster in there...

DBX for mats and tight landing spots. If I am going to buy a ship and want to transport the 'taxi' back cheaply to my home base, I use the Hauler. I take the Cobra out once in awhile as well, around the bubble, just cause I like it so much.

Fleet carrier, of course.

I used to have 4 AspX strategically placed around the bubble. Then get around with the Cutter, but switched to AspX for running local errands.

Now, I just use the carrier to “bus” all the important and unimportant ships with me everywhere. The other day, I went out a couple thousand LYs to collect materials. But forgot to bring a detail surface scanner. Surely one of the 30 odd ships in the carrier has one! Yep.

The only way to travel!

Taxi's, you say?

Well, first there's my, erm, Taxis; a couple of Haulers designed solely to get me, and possibly a couple of bits of cargo, around cheaply and efficiently.

Second, there's my FC's scout ship; an iCourier designed to scout jump destinations for my FC, and get transferred around cheaply, without getting into trouble.

Then there's my Light Scout Ships, which are kind of light weight multiroles, designed primarily for travel and also cheap to transfer.
One of these used to be my "daily driver" until I upgraded to a Phantom.

Finally, there's my new(ish) Phantom, which is currently my "daily driver" in ED; basically it's the ship I fly most of the time, unless I have a better ship for the job.

So, erm, yeah...
I think I have it pretty well covered.

Back before ship transfers I would buy a Hauler to move between the locations of my stored ships then sell it when I arrived at the ship I wanted to move.

Nowadays I have a Dolphin that I can use as taxi, explorer and for low volume cargo. It is cheap enough to transfer and enough jump range for fast commutes, the engine sound is unobtrusive and the view (unless scooping) is pleasant.

In the future I might just use Apex to ship my commander to the ship.
