Passenger scans at Robigo.

If I'm carrying secretive passengers who don't like scans, and I get scanned leaving/entering Hauser's Reach, is that a mission fail?

If it leads you to death, it certainly is - assuming your passengers are wanted and the security station is doing the scans
iF you are scanned by a bounty hunter, yes - you will fail the mission, but you may live. I did at Robigo Mines - i dont like Hauser so i never run missions from there

I think thats why people use a medium ship like python from robigo mines and stay away from the big station. no security scans.

Stations all over the place have increased the scans since the last update in my experience, I'm getting scanned after landing even, can't remember that being the case before, was it ?

I must just be lucky. I'm many 100's if not 1000's of runs in without a single scan.

I can count them on the fingers on one hand, but it happens
Once right at Sirius Atmospherics beacon - this one i escaped un-scanned. Another one or two times i managed to land before the scan was finished.
And i also failed a couple of missions: once i was scanned during the last seconds - like in a bad movie. The second time i tried to abort landing and boost away, but again the npc still managed to scan me (my bad on this instance, it was a comedy of errors)..
Had lot of failed missions in those 2 instances.

All of those happened this year. They must had changed something because last year i was never scanned at Robigo Mines and I never seen bounty hunters.

My runs have all been in the last few weeks. I've been doing them for the last 2 days with no issues. Must have done at least 60-70 runs in last 2 days. I don't see Bounty Hunters.

Last time I was there (weeks ago), I used both Robigo and Hausers, and I took the chance and went for $ so I weren't picky with the passengers. I didn't get scanned one single time and I was lazy (clever) enough to use a DC. I stayed there until my inventory was full. I like the view arriving at the beacon, but it becomes slightly trivial compared to scavenging parts at a CNB ;)

Edit: @Northpin Are you flying missions in open?

I think the DC docks faster than I do, so carrying a DC kind of makes sense at Robigo, except you can't fire heat sinks while it is active. At least I haven't been able to, but I rarely use heat sinks anyhow. I normally try to have as efficient PP as possible, after rescuing passengers from some of the incinerator-like stations, which might explain my luck not getting scanned and blown to pieces. A cold PP is sort of a hitten gem in ED. It's "constant chaff", makes swoop-scooping fun and avoids toxic fumes from the dash.

You can 'blip' the throttle to switch off the DC, fire the H/S then zero throttle - works fine :)

One that caught me out a few times was that you also can't fire H/S when SC-Assist is in charge - a number of times I was letting it fly me away from a star while I shouted 'why are the H/S disabled!' as I melted :) Again - point the ship away (to break SC-Assist) and H/S work fine.

deploying hardpoints breaks the scan, retract and repeat if you have to or go silent running, stations will have to finish the scan to cause any problems.

It does? or are you just pulling our leg? Why have I not heard of that before? 🤔

Makes sense if you think about it
Deploying hardpoints changes the hull profile. So it changes the radar signature. So the sensors have to be re-adjusted and the scan restarted
