Chaff affecting gimbaled weapons when not locked.

I was messing about with some gimbaled wep's on my FDL when gosh darn it a NPC used chaff on me!! Grrr.
No problem I thought as I deselected the target and continued firing with the weapons in "fixed" mode.

Except when it started chaffing again the weapons went wild even though they weren't locked on to any target!

This didn't happen all the time but I couldn't discern a particular pattern to when it did.

Now I'm puzzled, although I haven't used gimbaled weapons for a fair while I've never experienced them being affected by chaff when not locked to a target before, did this change recently?

Fdl is nimble enough to ditch gimbals. Look at those twits dumping chaff and laugh while you blast them.

You need a good stick to be somewhat efficient that way though.

The behavior OP described doesn’t match my experience, when I’ve deselected a target, the gimbals center and become fixed.

I deselect all the time so have repeatability in numbers.

Sounds buggy to me.

So probably this. Now I recall that the arc of gimbal wobble wasn't as great as with chaff, I don't know if that confirms Dispersal field or not?
If you haven't turned the voice line off, it should give you an alert - it's been a while since I've been hit with it, I think it's something like "targeting overload attack, automatic weapons scrambled" or something to that effect.

Most voice is off although I retain “Friendship Drive Charging” because you have to really!
I’ll switch the relevant ones on again though to see 👍
