The cmdr got home safe! But this whole exchange sparked some discussion if a sidey could get back to the bubble from Maia? I took it upon me to test it out… 2 weeks later and 7 sidewinders later the verdict was clear: It is possible and this needs to be a race! But to keep life spicy we abolish the fuelscoop for the hard part. Show the rats what you are made of!

How the Race goes:
1. Make your way to the maia region.
2. Buy a 2a FSd there (You can use EDDB.io to find where exactly)
3.Make your way to Artermis Lodge in Celaeno, Ship the 2a fsd from earlier to you and buy a Sidewinder.
3½. Give your sidey a snazzy name!
4. Strip off anything you want and add the 2a fsd to the Sidewinder. You are free to remove any module, but the only part you can add at this point is the 2A FSD.
4½. Start the Clock. The race begins!
5. Make your way to Ngalia and refit the sidewinder however you want (no guardian tech or engineering allowed) Fuel scoop is allowed (even recommended) from this point.
6. Charge your FSD and get to Wollheim Vision in Fuelum and be all smug to the rats that you made it!
7. The shortest time wins +3 life points and a pallet of the finest Snickers shipped to their home station!

Added rules cause everybody is master in finding loopholes
(This section will be updated in the coming days)
  • The use of Fleetcarriers is prohibited in any way shape or form. Outfitting, General travel, etc etc
  • You MUST use the SAME sidewinder you bought at artemis Lodge throughout the whole race.
  • When Outfitting your Sidewinder in Ngalia you must BUY all modules at an NPC station. No shipping modules upfront or using your universal storage.
  • No FSD injections allowed at any point.
  • No refueling by other cmdrs along the way.
  • Multiple attempts are allowed and encouraged! Some healthy Competition!

SPECIAL PRICE CATEGORY: Keep track how many times you get Hyperdicted. The cmdr with the most in a single run will deserve a special title!

Woo hoo! It's 3307 and the new Buckyball Racing Club season is off to a cracking start.

Normally at this point I'd post something like "count me in" but alas I just arrived in Colonia yesterday and will be out there for some time now so instead I'll simply encourage people to be gentle with @Hojothefool as this is the first race he's organised, fly fast and try not to run out of fuel, there are no prizes for being the Fuel Rats 100,000th customer!

:ROFLMAO: See what I have to put up with @Hojothefool? You devise a nice little race scenario and then people instantly start coming up with loopholes to circumvent the hoops you've put in place for them. Creating a race is harder than it looks! :LOL: Luckily there's still plenty of time to get more rules in place, don't let these racers bully you!

Thanks for organising this Hojo. I must say withouy a buckyball race the Elite universe feels a bit empty!

Reading the above I think it basically means one must start with a completely E-rated internals Sidey with the exception of the 2A FSD. Is that right?

i.e. we can't drop 2D thrusters, 1D Distributor etc.. in there?

Exactly. BUT You can remove any hardpoints, optional modules or Utilities. The core modules must stay unchanged except for the 2A fsd.

Well I have run the course, and having been one of those fussy gits who has never run out of fuel ever, this is a real headbanger lol. It is just unnatural to be out in the sticks with no fuel tank, stations or scoop. Have a basic strategy lined up however and looking forward to the race.

And this is going well, first serious practice run and got hyperdicted by our Thargoid friends on the third jump, leaving me without enough fuel to make it to the next fuelling point "legally". So, used jumponium to get there, refueled and going back to starting point to restart practice run, and got hyperdicted again... Another out of fuel situation, another shot of jumponium just to get back to the starting point...

Hyperdictions seem to make it very challenging! The increased thargoid activity isn't helping! But you will get a proper run in i am sure!
