Why FDev.. just why make this game so tedious on purpose?

The mission system in general is extremely bland. I am hoping oddesey rectifies this is some regard. You have the whole of space to play with, I just find the missions fall flat when considering the potential of the surroundings.

I started playing just in the nick of time where the mission board was completely useless. The sandbox stuff was much more interesting, and you only went to the mission board for specific things like rep and exploits.

There was a time when the mission board got focused on probably because new players go there.. but i don't think it ever lost its roots as a placeholder.

I wonder how frontier consider it... and whether they're happy keeping it as vague as it currently is. Was it ever supposed to be prime content?

@Turric4n_ED
I really hope you have all engineers unlocked, otherwise you're in for a shock...if you haven't then I would get a head start and start penning out your next post now.
By the way, there are way around what people consider "grind"...for example, simply fly to Hutton Orbital and claim your free Anaconda...I think FD updated this so the conda comes with all raw mat bins maxed out. Some consider this cheating, others don't.

I don't find complaints about tedium are entirely meritless so jumping on anyone who brings them up is a bit harsh (although the OP's tone was so closed-minded that it was either outright trolling or the type of person who can't deal with anything that isn't their idea of perfection); things do tend to get somewhat repetitive and a little lifeness. I still play though (albeit with months-long breaks where I don't) because it's enjoyable despite all that.

I enjoy ED but some of the gameplay loops are lacking imo.
Funny how ED has set my standard for gameplay loops, so once I started playing RDO I just expected all missions (of a specific type) to be the same. I was surprised, even shocked, when the same mission (for example, delivering goods to a market) introduced a variety of different scenarios and gameplay loops each time I do it. It's not an infinite number of scenarios and repeats do happen, but after playing ED I expected the mission gameplay to be identical each and every time, and I just accepted that as normal.

They didn't write a demo for whatever boring repetitive idiocy the grinders will latch onto then complain about next. Probably since grinders always find their own way to gravitate to methods of ruining games for themselves.
wheres the ED trailer showin some rock shooting in their ads? i wonder.. do they actually pull in people that want action and then make them grind mats to be able to have access to proper action? And then we wonder why ppl coming here new in complain?

That is a trap! 😋

PS: Using SRV turrets can help. Also material traders, the advice about collecting mats by doing in Elite what you like and then hit the traders is quite sound actually.
Other games usually give these chores a Marketplace. So ppl that like to grind can do it and earn a few credits selling, while those who dont like the grind can earn them through w/e way they make money with and buy them.

I don't buy games based on trailers as I understand what trailers are.

Nobodies forced to grind for mats at all, I just grab them in passing and then trade for anything else I need. Easy come easy go.

This made me cringe badly when i first started. Apart from the blatant misrepresentation, people who believed that video came in and started complaining.. and to my horror frontier actually jumped and started making the game for THEM, not the people who liked what was actually there. I wonder what was going on.. instead of frontier cleaning up, being honest and moving ahead.. they ran with their own fakery.

Anyway, that's long past. This one is possible to rest, because that video isn't the first one on steam, its the third one.. so given new people will watch the first two first.. the third one isn't just one big lie to sell the game anymore.
