Why FDev.. just why make this game so tedious on purpose?

...getting FDev to improve the game...

Your idea of improving the game might ruin it for other players.
Hard to balance things for everyone, right?

Now, back to Crystalline Shards, no one, and i say NO ONE touches them or try to improve them or try to convince FD to interact with them.
Since their discovery, they were bugged twice for rather lengthy periods of time (that is many months). Now they're working nicely, so leave them be.

Also they're the best way to get raws, and again - we know what happens when someone trying to fix something that is not broken
And if you think them Crystalline Shards are broken or tedious or whatever - try to fill up on raws in every other way.

What is wrong with you?
Right back atcha! - Y'all are obviously only at early rookie status [noob-->rookie-->veteran] ging by your SRV driving, I'm guessing <100hrs play time? Also given the opening screen in your video shows an immature propensity to meme, I'm going to guess you are sub twenty years old. The SRV can be a whole lot more entertaining if you use it differently, TURRET MODE is what you need to use, and trust me it will rock your world. You see all the endless eleventeen point turns you were doing to get the SRV in a position where the gun sight was on the appropriate part of the crystalline shard, with turret mode, you don't need that. You'd need to look at your control bindings and see what button / key, if any, you have mapped to SRV Turret mode, then the trick is to use the turret, and drive the SRV like a tank. Doing that will save you all the millions of manouevring cuts to get a bead on the geological features, and just drive to the fragments. FYI you can reverse over things to pick them up, as long as you have them targetted and scoop down it doesnt give a monkeys what direction the item comes from.

Also, if you are looking to stock up on mats for engineering, a faster more fun / lcurative way of doing it is via passenger missions, fit a passenger cabin and an SRV hanger into something not too mahoosive, so it will be easier to land on the terrain available. Look at the available passenger "sightseeing tour" missions, keeping an eye out for ones that have a few waypoints at geological sites, such as cryo volcanism or fumaroles or geysers, scan the beacon, land the ship, deploy the SRV, in TURRET MODE and go farm the site for mats. Fumeroles and geysers are better for bulk mats farming as it's easier to move around them, its more like a dessert than a maze if that makes sense? And geysers also have the added bonus of allowing you to make your own fun by deliberately stopping the SRV on the mouth of one of the more powerful jets which will blast you a kilometer or more upwards given the right combination of geyser power / planets gravity - you can then have a bit of fun doing aerobatics with the SRV's thrusters (make sure you have them bound to buttons/axis on your control settings), just make sure you have enough engines capacitor left to slow the final part of your descent and soften your landing, or a spare SRV :p

1.Not using turret/driving at same time is a bit annoying so not using it is fine, just though I should mention it.
2.A five second jpeg of a dog followed bu 1.90 min of unedited/unnarrated gameplay is not informative nor sarcastic, far better to just explain in words what you have issue with.
3.If this is being defensive I hate to see what I'm like when I'm accepting! :giggle:

but words are tedious and boring, and are like growling dogs or something.

i can't manage to drive and use turret at the same time but that does not resolve the issue that i need to fetch chunks like a dog. Also you are missing the point. This is not about optimizing a bad gameplay loop. This is a sarcastical way of presenting a gameplay loop (either it is actually bad or not - that is personal opinion and i do not argue personal opinion). You guys could take it with some humour instead of being defensive out of the box.

Ahah! You have a skill deficiency and an entitled attitude, which means that while you are unable to use the tools available (SRV Turret) you feel entitled to the rewards (high grade raw materials for engineering/synthesis) ergo yo feel Frontier should change the game to suit you¿ - Not in the least bit narcissistic...

Who don't grind to get ships? The people who enjoy the game? Some do, i'm pretty certain.

What gold farming sales?

Hutton Orbital is still mega funny when someone falls for it.

No idea about JWE since i haven't played it, but this might shock you, but its pretty normal practice to put timers into games to stop things happening too fast!
I ground to get a ship once. Well to get rank for a clipper more specifically.

Followed advice on how to do it. What a grind.

Never again.

Did the rank for the cutter my own way. Thoroughly enjoyed most of it! Ground the last 1% or so just to get it finished. Surprise surprise, that bit was a grind! 😂

Still haven’t actually bothered with buying a cutter.

So, didn’t grind, got the rank, never got the ship in the end but thoroughly enjoyed myself in the process!

There’s probably some kind of moral in all that somewhere! 😉

You're doing it wrong. I can collect stuff from a crater quicker than you can at the crystal site...

By the way, no need to use the turret at all. Use boost and aim the whole SRV.
wow, youre fetch game is on point! I rate it worth a treaty and pat on the head.

This.

I just did a little of everything and never had any more than maybe an hour or two of trading to eng. most of my ships. The OP can't understand that game like EURO TRUCK SIMULATOR are a thing and yes, some people do love just driving back and forth. The OP's condescing attitude to anyone who likes this slower gamestyle made this thread a joke.

With such a niche interest game like this, if you don't like it play something else is completely valid OP.

Instead of just complaining about it OP, what are you ideas to make the gameplay loops more fun that fits in a procedural generated universe of 4 billion planets so keep in mind there can be no narrative attached to these loops. Ok, GO
Yeah exactly .. I played about 50-100 hours of EURO TRUCK SIMULATOR few years ago. I was going through a lot at the time with a lot of things on my mind.. so 2 hours a day of driving meditation helped me a lot :D

These days my life couldn't be better/busier but a couple of hours of trading (multi-hop route through many unvisited systems is pretty good) in my Cutter is like attending a sauna wellness... so relaxing... with the occasional interdiction to spice things up which my G5 engineered 5x multi-cannons and 2 missile racks are just what they need to keep them from going rusty.

So why do you feel the need to grind, exactly? Unlike Destiny or The Division or Fortnight, the game doesn't force you to grind in order not to feel like you've missed out on something. You can literally play at any rate you want.
So up until a few months ago I would have fully agreed with this how recently FD have given in and gone down the road of FOMO forced gameplay by giving out unique gear in CGs to "force" people to play. Personally I think that is a massive misstep and said as much in the threads involved. Imo keep the rewards as cosmetics NOT special missiles or souped up FSDs.

May I ask if the unique gear is something that gives players an advantage over others, or is it something that is more cosmetic that you end up wishing you had (as you indicate FOMO)?

I ask, as it would be sad (IMO) if it is something that gives an advantage. I don't mind if a big event went as far as awarding a unique uniform, paint job, decals etc the better people performed. I can definitely say I am probably the type of player that wouldn't reach the top levels and win some of those premium things - but there has to be something that's available for all levels of player.

I guess there is bound to be a point where I won't be able to do an event because of RL, it will probably be during the best giveaway ever! :p lol. But that's life - sometimes I think the FOMO isn't so much that I would need the items, but probably more that I would be a little envious of others who got it - but as that's on me I can't really say it is a FOMO, but rather just a WOSSEH (want of something someone else has)! <O

I don't think I've ever seen a rock give out more than one item, unless it's about 10 feet tall - they might have two - just curious if you really are getting 3-5 items per rock ?!?!

I know of 2 . Improved missiles and improved FSD so better jump range.
