Why FDev.. just why make this game so tedious on purpose?

I know of 2 . Improved missiles and improved FSD so better jump range.

Oh wow, that is a shame because those are game advantages (especially the missiles against other players - the FSD would be an in game quality of life).

Not so long ago I was writing to a Community Manager to see if those that couldn't watch a stream (because of time zones or IRL) could maybe get the giveaway paint jobs because it was Christmas and COVID etc (just thought it would be a great - community spirited thing for ED to do). It's a little sad hearing about this.

Thank you for the quick response. <O

Oh I forgot there was also improved planetary surface scanner.

None of these modules were anything special.
If you are ok with unique gear being given out that is fine and is one thing... But your statement is pretty inaccurate imo. I would say giving out "just" G5 gear would be pretty special so to give stuff that is even better still , that makes it special by the very definition imo.

I don't think I've ever seen a rock give out more than one item, unless it's about 10 feet tall - they might have two - just curious if you really are getting 3-5 items per rock ?!?!

At least. Usually more. Rocks always give lots of materials. Crystals only give one, though - but they're all high value and you find lots of them in the same place.

So up until a few months ago I would have fully agreed with this how recently FD have given in and gone down the road of FOMO forced gameplay by giving out unique gear in CGs to "force" people to play. Personally I think that is a massive misstep and said as much in the threads involved. Imo keep the rewards as cosmetics NOT special missiles or souped up FSDs.
I looked it up .. and there is nothing unique about that gear. A class 4 FSD Booster.. that anyone can unlock in an hour or two at the guardian site. Offering more options to get to the gear is fine in my book.

One of us is mistaken then ;)

We are way OT for this thread but I was responding to someone who said play at your own pace as nothing is time sensitive.

However the stacking of the 2 bonuses does add a large advantage.

Add to that the fast boot time means you can put it at zone 5 in power management and fire it up super fast. Pretty amazing and had I of been able to play damn straight it would be on my ship all the time. (I would still be against FD doing it however)

Faster Boot Sequence (G5):
Pros
- -80% Boot Time - +15% Optimal Mass
Cons
- -15% Integrity - +20% Thermal Load

Increased Range (G5):
Pros
- +55% Optimal Mass
Cons
- -15% Integrity - +30% Module Mass - +15% Power Draw

This.

I just did a little of everything and never had any more than maybe an hour or two of trading to eng. most of my ships. The OP can't understand that game like EURO TRUCK SIMULATOR are a thing and yes, some people do love just driving back and forth. The OP's condescing attitude to anyone who likes this slower gamestyle made this thread a joke.

With such a niche interest game like this, if you don't like it play something else is completely valid OP.

Instead of just complaining about it OP, what are you ideas to make the gameplay loops more fun that fits in a procedural generated universe of 4 billion planets so keep in mind there can be no narrative attached to these loops. Ok, GO

You could balance out missions against this for example. But missions are thanks to the interface also a chore and in itself repetitive. Robigo to Sirius Atmosphere pays very well, but it is the same loop over and over. Even the one improvement that you could see the amount of your storage from an reward item in the reward screen would go a long way. This interface is not a good one. You can disagree, but there are many many ways where you can improve.

Another idea would be to let people trade materials / money or let people create missions with rewards.

Cargo missions are even worse, because you know you get interdicted 100ls from your goal. There is nothing you can do about. No evasive gameplay, no sneaky routes, no deterrent (an NPC viper will gank a federal corvette). Either you submit or you play the minigame. There is just wasted potential.

Someone had the idea to get a grapple hook, that was an interesting idea. Or you could get a limpet srv.. or at least show the fragments on the radar.. or make them collectible while not targeted (why do you need to target something for collection anyway?)

In the OP video I see a player that isn't very awesome at the SRV farming mats on the dark side of a planet. It is kinda painful to watch.

Good! Painful to watch was what i was aiming for.

Oh are we back again at what i should do and not do... That is not helpful. And yes, i think a lot of decisions in this game are made deliberately to spread the gametime out. This is not good game design (you can agree or not). Just look at the other thread with the t6 landing on the sole landing pad at 15km out. That stuff is made to lengthen the game with force.
This is also okay, i will not expect a lot of understanding or backup in this place, since it is only natural that the people enjoying it fully participate in this forum and the people that see it for what it is (a game that could be so much better) moved on a long time ago. I am also neither trying to convince you of something nor getting FDev to improve the game, because i know that it will not happen. I just think this is a funny conversation and shows that there is an actual wounded point in this community.
People are giving you advice. Take it or leave it, it's up to you. But if you want to continue what you consider tedious, go knock yourself out.

Rocks may give more materials if you compare one outcrop with one shard.
But the shards are all clumped together and you can fill up 150 G4 raws in less than 45 minutes. You cannot do that by shooting rocks.
And if you trade down some of those 150 G4 you will get a lot of low tier raws from the same line...
