Well ..... They gave the game away for free on Epic not long ago, and they give you free Arx for playing .... so ....
Cue narcissistic entitled pillocks complaining that the ARX limit is a pittence, and how they should be able to turn their hundreds of millions per hour into more ARX or the game is not worth their time...
They don't want us to play it, they just want us to buy it. I'm probably their favorite customer these days - I don't play anymore (at least not right now), so I'm not costing them by putting a load on their servers, yet I still throw money at things like Midnight Black paint jobs for that future date when I may return.

I bought a HumbleBundle copy of Elite last year and it was a code to be redeemed in Steam (you have to link HumbleBundle to your Steam account - you can unlink later if needed). Interestingly though it was a "CD-Key" version - so it can be run as a stand-alone - I therefore deleted it from Steam (having copied the CD keys of course!) and now run that account direct from a normal installation.

Nope. You can always make another Steam account and buy the game for that account and switch between the two.

you are not missing to much spent an evening getting most of the adjucation server errors... not much playing when I had to restart the game every 5-10 minutes...
