Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Why should they? You are having fun with SC and no one is suggesting you stop playing SC either no? And I think it is probable a safe bet to say many of the patrons here are probably having much more fun than you with SC ;) .
I sincerely hope they are, it doesn't exactly sound like it though.

Who cares Agony Aunt, I'm all about the here and now bud. it's frankly absurd.

I suppose it's some humans natures.
I was lucky enough to be able to buy an E60 M5, never in my life did I think that I would be able to have a 5L V10 car growing up on a council estate in Jockland.
Around 75% of people including supposed 'friends / acquaintance's said.
Oh you won't get many miles to the gallon with that.
That's going to be expensive to fix, and many more negative comments.

The other 25% said "That's" a nice car and "Can I have a go" and of course they could it's only a car.
The crap on here is unbelievable at times, aww he's got more money than me and he's a thief. it's all rubbish.
These companies have got to be taken to task and I get that but it has to be constructive not a constant diatribe of Pish.

Now you can rip me for bringing a personal thought into a gaming forum - carry on...

Well, it is up to you whether you discount the history of CIG, but I think it is fair to say that that history continues to this date. For example, CR's recent post about the "playable now narrative" which is odds with the reality.

We've had 9 years of look at how much work we have done, its coming soon, we just need to add (tech) and all will be good. Just around the corner, its almost finished. And now.... "it will be done when its done". None of that gives you a moments pause?

Here's a new one for you.
Smooooth like getting out of a taxi on a pre Covid Saturday night.

I would love to be able to do this in Elite but they are different games entirely.

But, is it at odds. I have been playing over the last week or two with many many frustrating moments and it isn't by any means a complete game but you can 'play' it to a degree.
Let me be clear I do not like the crowd funding, pre purchase, microtransactions, paying for F'ing pixels that is the current gaming industry philosophy as all they want is our money and the more the better.
I've said it before I paid around 45 quid and I get a tad of enjoyment out of it.

Its almost the same thing as the people who bought Elite in 2014 complaining that others are now getting it for free.
It's a Mad Mad world.
Fly safe lads I'm out. Apologies for the rant.

You are like a new goldfish plopped into the aquarium telling all of us fish the water is wet.

Are you pro-scammer or anti-scammer? It's not clear from your comments.

I didn't realise the price had gone up to £43.20, thought it was still £30 like most new PC games. That's a lot for an Early Access game.

The £62.40 which includes Sq42 would be a better deal if there was any indication when both games would launch.

Best to just ignore it. Play it if you enjoy it, play something else if you don't. The insane fanatics on both sides of the 'battle' are not worth your time.
In talk.origins, people would parachute in saying just let high school science teachers teach "both" sides of the relevant controversy in that forum. This, of course, would reward the scammers.

Agony Aunt/ Asp ping me your PayPal details and I will refund you personally for your wasted pennies.

That's a very generous offer Pug - but I'll have to decline.

These weren't wasted pennies. It's not about the money - $500 is half-a-night-out in a not particularly great part of Chicago. It's a debt owed by Genuine Roberts to deliver what he promised to me and many others. And if he can't deliver on those promises - then for the rest of eternity, he'll owe that to us.

"explicit critiques "
Very eloquent. Yep get the history but 45 quid really that's 3 1/2 packets of s in the UK or a semi-nice 18 year old bottle of single malt not exactly robbed is it. Move on if your not happy.

Unless the people complaining bought the $36,000.00 package (extreme example I know)

Personally, I don’t care if it’s $45 or $45,000... it’s money I worked hard for, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect Chris Roberts and CIG to put in an honest effort to fulfill their promises... and the dozens of shell companies and Hollywood Accounting shenanigans is about as far as you can get from an honest effort without committing a felony.

Fortunately for me, I managed to get my money out of this disaster before CIG changed their terms of service. It may not seem like much to you, but $45 represents two months of my gaming budget, and I'd rather spend it on games worthy of my time, from developers who don't make Electronic Arts look like paragons of virtue in comparison... though I do admit I bought No Man's Sky at half off with part of my refund. Space Engineers, another game that received part of that refund, more than made up for NMS's failings on that front, to the point where I've since bought all the DLCs Keen has produced for the game.

It's ironic. Back in 2012, Star Citizen was the game that was supposed to tide me over until Elite: Dangerous was at least as developed as Frontier: Elite 2, gameplay wise. Instead, ED became the game I ended up playing instead of SC.... and Space Engineers... and Empyrion: Galactic Survival... and Rogue System... and Surviving Mars... and Subnautica... and Star Wars: Squadrons...

But because of Star Citizen, I'm no longer willing to Kickstart games, and I'll take a long, hard look at any early access game before I even think of buying it. That's the damage Star Citizen has done to the gaming community as a whole, and the space game genre specifically. There are dozens of great ideas floating out there, just as good if not better than SC, that wither away due to lack of funding, all thanks to the malignant growth that is Star Citizen.

Should SC and Sq42 ever reach the point where they at least fulfil the original Kickstarter promises, I'm more than willing to buy it again... but not at the full $65. I'm more than willing to wait for the inevitable sale.

After all, what's a few more years, after all this time?

You are not a teacher, we are not your students and we are not talking about the origins of life but a computer game. Get some perspective, mate.
