o7 commanders!
Yesterday, a team of intrepid commanders launched an SRV further away from Sol than any other SRV has been (to our knowledge). The SRV (piloted by CMDR Serbay) was carried to a height of the orbital cruise altitude on the front of an Exploration Anaconda (piloted by CMDR Gh05ty), after which the SRV was able to engage it's thrusters without the hinderance of gravity and boost further upwards. This was done from the Oevasy SG-Y d0 system (Ishum's Reach) on body B 9 f (aka "Salomé's Reach"). The final altitude reached was 400km, although there was no limitation at this point to going higher.
The original intent was to see if the SRV could eventually make it to the carrier (D SCAN WLL SOON B OVER), which was in orbit 1200km above the surface. Unfortunately, the carrier was on the other side of the planet. In addition, the time elapsed (about 2 hours) was starting to eat into a planned SLF death race, which was deemed more important.
Although the original goal of getting the SRV to the carrier was not met, we believe that CMDR Serbay's SRV reached a distance away from Sol further than any other SRV. The crew of D SCAN WLL SOON B OVER will make another attempt to reach the carrier with an SRV in better lighting conditions tomorrow around Calidum Capsicum Annuum (Hot Potato).
If any commander has been able to get their SRV further from Sol, the over 50 commanders on the Infernal Expedition salute you!
