Increasing SRV cargo? Stuff left behind!

So I've started landing on worlds and collecting minerals... and I just came upon a wreck! :O (in-game, very sad, OOC, way cool!)
There were 2 OCCUPIED escape pods! :O But that's all my SRV can fit. I had to leave behind some narcotics and personal weapons and something else....
Is there any way to increase SRV cargo space?
If not, any plans on them improving SRVs in general?

You can of course transfer stuff to the ship, it just has to be close enough, did you try dismissing and recalling your ship? That may have brought it close enough for the site to persists as you collected stuff. I don't see any large improvement in cargo in our current SRV, I mean it's basically a one man sized buggy with a couple of luggage hooks.

Ah, no I'm afraid I didn't have any cargo racks in the ship at the time, so that's a good idea but wouldn't have done me any good in tis case. I was out exploring, almost all the advice I've been getting is no cargo racks, the only stuff I'd be collecting would be minerals :p

Hoping one day they add SRVs which take 2 or 4 SRV bays and can hold 4 or 16 cargo (seems how things would scale).

There is some concept art for bigger SRVs.

I don't know if it's known that the class 6 was added with the fleet carrier update i think and it holds 4 srv's. Not a bad topic tho, I agree we need more srv cargo space, its 3307 and can still only hold 2 cargo.

Cargo racks have no mass so do not impact jump range, only what you pick up does that, so there's no reason not to install them if you have empty slots.

The class 6 SRV bay has existed for a lot longer than that.

My Dropship has had one for a very long time.

Materials my boy, Materials.... they don't require cargo space and WHO told you not to bring ant cargo racks...???
Yeah you should always have some cargo space when out exploring. I know some people bang on about having a particular type of ship build for exploring, but you can explore in any ship.
Not long ago I went to Colonia, then to the top of the galaxy, down to Sag A, then back to the bubble. I did it all in a T9 built for mining with 570 t of cargo space.

And making your ship lighter so you can get the longest jump range is all well and good (after all, the further you can jump the quicker you can get to your destination) but on the other hand you miss out on loads of systems in between.
My T9 has a jump range of about 16 ly. The journey I did took months to do, but it also meant that I found more unexplored systems.

It's also worth noting that if you want to bring repair limpets, or research limpets, then you need to bring a cargo rack anyway.

Nope, it was already there, long before that. Probably since Horizons launched. I've always thought that its existence, coupled with the fact that you have to purchase the Scarab SRVs individually, hinted that there might be more vehicle types coming in the future. It's a shame it's taken this long (assuming we get more vehicles in Odyssey, since it would be a huge missed opportunity if we don't).

This isn't true. No matter the range, if you spend x time exploring you visit y amount of systems :)

But back to topic...
Did this two escape pods stay in the srv cargo after docking the ship!?

I always thought that they would release a faster, less cargo-y, possibly more shooty SRV and a slower, more cargo-y, tankier SRV just to give us some options, but I guess it was always a low priority. They've not confirmed more SRVs in Odyssey either, but maybe it's further down the pipeline.

You absolutely need at least 4 tons of cargo space, to be able to synthesize limpets for repair (every synthesis creates 4, so any less cargo space is just wasted mats).

As for the stuff you've found, I wouldn't worry too much about leaving it, other than the escape pods the rest of that stuff is basically worthless and can be gotten anywhere. The pods are the only thing of real value or rarity.

Yep, it absolutely was in game when Horizons launched. I remember going over outfitting options during the beta, and trying it out in the class 6 slot of the asp e. I didn't bother with it in the end though, as I realised I couldn't cope with a smaller fuel scoop over long term exploration. (At least not with a class 5 fsd)
