Give Yamiks an Alpha key!

Dunno if 1/5 active ED player watch Yamiks on a regular basis.
i don't know either, the figure was rhetorical. he is a regular elite tuber with a wide audience was the point.

I would definitely watch if he entered UFC, awesome fun to watch! Doesn't make him my hero.
never watched ufc but that could be fun indeed. however, he isn't my hero either and he doesn't need to: he has access to a wide audience that frontier caters to, that's what they should have handled with a bit more care than emitting a bot response first and sending a bulldozer after the bot didn't work.

imo frontier had only 2 not-awful options: either send him a key, or if not simply ignore his requests. they have ample experience ignoring people (and playing the sphynx at the same time) so this wouldn't have surprised anybody, and there really was no good answer to give since it was a loaded question. the moment they answered they got caught in the game. the 2nd answer should backfire if "the world" has some sense left, maybe it doesn't.

But fails in their selection criteria - simple.

That's just another way of saying "Frontier decided not to", which is not in dispute.
The discussion is around whether they should have, in the opinion of anyone who cares to give one.

Simply put, Yamiks meets any reasonable criteria for the core content creator category.

Jesus Christ... Yamiks applied for a “job” at a company he publicly slandered and he didn’t get it, end of story.

Why the goddamn internet drama?! Why does it need a debate? In what way is he entitled to get a key?!

Why "Should" they give something to somebody just because the the person considers they should?
Are they not permitted to run their business without the permission of some nobody on the internet?

My opinion is that they are quite correct to decline giving any individual or business a free gift by choice.

You're really something because you're always wrong. I think its your tender age.

Steam can give you up to 1000 pre release keys. Really, there arent 1000 content creators for elite dangerous. And yamicks cant have one? Also, your reply assumes frontier would also be turning off the standalone client and cant just enable the launcher option from their own systems.

You are wrong, and i'm correcting you.
I am not saying he can't have one, I am saying that your claim there are an unlimited number of keys is false. Now you agree and come up with the number stated in the document I referred to. 1000 is not 'unlimited'. You just can't bring yourself to just acknowledge you did a 180 but that is fine. Important bit is we cleared it up.

Why he didn't get one of the limited number of keys is another question. The answer is rather obvious though. Whether you agree is something you can decide for yourself.

It's not about permission, nor is the implication that if any of us, or enough of us think they should, that they would then be somehow obliged to.

Frontier have every right to choose to decline, whether it be correct or incorrect to do so in the context being discussed, or in the opinion of their customers.

My view is that enough of Frontier's customers value Yamik's content that it would have been a better business decision to include him in the distribution list.
Failing that, I think they should have been more direct with him about the reason for declining, instead of giving the insulting and dishonest response they did.

It's real easy for white straight middle class dudes like me to claim everyone else should just not be offended by things. I think it is better to not offend unless you specifically want to do so. A bit of courtesy and kindness towards large general groups of people is not something I cannot afford.

Unless we are talking about Belgians.
I absolutely agree, but I'd add that there is a balance. It's not all one way or all the other is it. There's also an onus on people not to take everything as some personal offense and an indicator as hatred for a whole group of people.

Cringe is NOT related to pride.

Pride is what I feel when I'm marching down a street with my fellow gays while dressed in rainbows and looking bloody fabulous.

Cringe is being embarrassed FOR someone. Like..."my god, this guy thinks he's funny...and thinks he's actually saying things that haven't been said before? Oh god..I pity them."
Think harder about that one
