New Planet Tech is KILLER of Exploration (all terrain is tiling/repeating/not procedural/random)

They had enough. Stop already! Stop ruining rating like a small child that didnt liked his toy. Its a really complex project for such a small low budget studio. Its far from even CDProject Red. I dont think this is fair at all, such hatred. They made a truly unique game, and you hate them for that? Because of bugs? Hate investors, not devs, because they released unfinished product.
It's neither unreasonable nor uncalled for. They should have scrapped this build and instead delay release due to these issues. There's nothing childish about it. They are accountable for shipping this mess. And FDev isn't small.

You think its that simple, lol. Then look at Cyberpunk. Or even RDR2 PC release, which was a total disaster much worse than Odyssey. And Rockstar has tons of money and thousands of devs.

small low budget stuido? Really? Did you know fdev is publically traded comapny on stock market? Did you know its the biggest UK independent developer? Did you know the have ~600 employees? DId you know they make multiple games?

Yes elite is complex, but fdev is by no means small low budget studio.

OT: in point of fact, that you are so repeatedly fixated over multiple posts on what some rando opined on the state of your mental health does, in fact, seem to indicate an "imbalance" (at best) of sorts... ;)
Why, thank you for your kind and supportive comment...(y)

Devs don't decide when to ship. Investors do. If Frontier had a soul and the respect to its customers, they'd decline the investor's demand.

We're customers. And it's our right to say if something is wrong. It's not childish. If we swallow everything, nothing will change.

This one looks nice though it seems the patterns run from NW to SE. But at least there are no visible repeating patterns on it. I like that it has distinct regions of different geology.
If it's possible to create one planet like this, then it's possible for the tech to create all planets without repeating structures. It involves identifying the procgen constraints that produce the repeating patterns and altering them so that no pattern with more than X amount of similarity to any other pattern is generated. I hear no death knells for the game coming from this issue (instead only for the ability to describe this as not-a-paid-beta). But the noise is good as it stimulates a reaction from FDev. So I urge everyone - PANIC!!

What would actually be useful would be to maintain a list of planets for which this occurs to use as a reference set for any changes and updates - when the effect is gone from all of them, that would be a measure of "fixed". This may be happening with the tracked issue.

I'll just put these here...

All these pictures are from Deciat 1. All these repetitions were found close to the landing site. The new tech is repeating things both on a big and a small scale. I was never able to find repetitions like these so easily in Horizons. The old tech managed to hide them in procedural noise.

SpaceIsHuge please don't derail this thread. The issue raised is a serious one for exploration. Some, a very small minority, may not think so, and its admiral that a few here are defending Frontier, but somethings really can't be defended, not until there's an official response saying this is a bug or a feature. If its a bug and Frontier say they can fix it, everyone here will sigh a big sigh of relief and move on, but this really is a defining moment for a lot of players watching this development. The thread doesn't deserve to be derailed.

Any AAA studio would never made Odyssey. And you know why? Because its too complex for their tiny brains and too much risk for their money. So they will better make another Witcher 4 and Mass Defect 5. Enjoy.

Btw this base is MASSIVE on foot. Only on foot you can see and feel how huge it is! Also textures looks good too on foot. Even little bridge has working collision model.

Can confirm, Farseer's joint is HUGE! I fell off one of the bridges.. Lucky the G is low enough I 'floated' down. But I have an almost 3k walk until I can call my ship, my SRV is what appears to be 500+ meters straight up.

Hmm, I wonder where I'd be if I log back in to EDH...
