FidelityFX and DLSS

Now that Fidelity FX Supersampling is released and with developers, I'm hoping that Odyssey will support both it and DLSS, for some massive frame improvements. I'm not concerned too greatly about RT, as it is largely just an effect that, so far, brings us back to the every other title between 2000-2014, what with the wet look problem. Most notably like that found in Dragons Age Inquisition. Where everything and everyone looks plastic and wet.

Isn't DLSS exactly a rendering optimization though? It would allow for rendering less pixels and let the card do the magic to upscale the image in a smart way.

Well, it's a postprocessor fueled by AI. It of course needs a base image. DLSS cannot help if the base image isn't calculated quick enough.

What is the track record for DLSS for rendering lower resolutions? Because the impression I have got is that DLSS is optimized for 4k or higher resolutions. and the lower you get the worse it gets...

It is still too soon to know how good AMD offering will be, do the real world testing match what they said? time will tell, and we can all hope that AMD is not too far off from the real world experience of their offering...

It would be nice, but the cart comes after the horse. Let them get the game up to something approaching reasonable in terms of optimization. They have to get this mess to run on last gen consoles after all. Then, maybe they will look into DLSS and Fidelity FX. I can't forsee it happening sooner than that unless Nv codes it for them. Not out of the question, since Nv has picked up programming slack for devs in the past as a marketing cudgel against AMD. Normally, it is done to upcoming 3A titles though, and not 6 year old niche titles like ED.
