Did you pack the dumbfires and remote release fireworks?

I am thinking which small ship I want to use for my ground missions. Vulture or Cobra or Viper or Imp Eagle. All have their nice bits. But ideally I want to spam small hardpoints.
Ideally something brisk for those uncomfortable exits when you've overstayed your welcome.
Eagle with Advanced drives is nice. One can be out of turret range in four seconds.

Found a G3 Dominator. But I really want the G3 Artemis...
Good stuff in most systems so far, now taxiing 240kls to have a look at an outpost. edit: nope, nothing good.
This best so far, want the G3 Mavy suit. Also found out that a G3 arty suit can jump higher than a G3 Domy suit, could hardly get to the roof in the domy...

Players will now be able to plot hyperspace routes involving neutron boosts.
Bloody FINALLY!

Thanks, too bad there seem to be no fixes to planetary missions in EDH to EDO settlements on planets, one cannot land on in EDH. That was mentioned in a couple of threads already - is there no one forwarding that to the devs?- It would be nice to have at least one version of ED, which works properly.

I did put missiles on it, for those times when it seems appropriate. I don't like using them in settlements, though. It feels cheesy and unsatisfying (to me). I'll do it if I just can't manage any other way, but I'm trying to learn to be better on foot :)

Speaking of which, I did get a chance to try out my newly upgraded shotgun (Grade 4 now). The stats say it has a range of 7m, so you gotta be pretty much point blank with this thing.

If I do it right, I can run up behind a guard and blast 'em. One shot is all it takes for some NPCs, even with their shields up (this was in a Threat 3 environment, so not very high level). 2 shots if the first one doesn't quite do it. Then I run off and circle around until I see another chance.

The NPCs are pretty smart, but it is possible to confuse them a bit by running off and having them lose sight of you -- then they will go into a search pattern and often separate. Then it's ninja-time again, lol.

It's not the most elegant fighting style, but it sort of makes up for my inadequacies (slow reaction, bad aim). When you're 3 meters away, with a shotgun, aim is less of an issue :p

Plus I get to scan them for bounties afterwards, which I cannot do if I kill them from a vehicle (they despawn when you exit your ship or SRV after killing them that way).

I haven't played yet today -- we'll see if the fixes fixed anything. Based on the patch notes, I'm thinking they still have a long, long way to go. The 'Road Map' tomorrow will be very revealing.

EDO is much too dark - this doesn't seem to bother them at all, seems to be intended - so from my point of view ED's timer is running out and I try to get some value for the money I've invested as long as I still can. This lighting is make or break to me, if it stays this will be end of the line for me. But they just don't bother to fix it.

end of the line = uninstalling the game never to return to it again, regardless whatever else they might fix - this lighting is not acceptable.

As far as "a long way to go" goes - they released it as a full priced DLC, well, at the price of a full game even. They better hurry up, because they can't expect patience from us for a full price game which isn't working. They better put in some more effort than what we have seen so far - a few cosmetic and audio fixes won't do - they'll have to do more and faster or quite an amount of their audience will migrate to another game.

I had a similar problem, but then it turned out I had the Gamma way too low.
Contrary to most of the industry where when you are tuning your Gamma value you have three symbols and you're trying to make the middle one barely visible, in Elite for some reason it's the left-most symbol. Don't know why.

It is ok in EDH - if it isn't in EDO, it's their fault and they have to fix it, not me. We are not in the 80s anymore, they have to do the work, it's not on the player having to do that.

It's funnym but I'm not noticing the darkness so much now. At first, I thought it was awful but now... not so much. Perhaps a different HUD colour setup may help? Dunno.

So... wait. You are refusing to go into settings and trying to adjust the Gamma value? Out of spite or something?
I'm not saying it's going to look the same as Horizons. Would would be the point anyway. But if you up your gamma and increase the HUD brightness in your ship a notch or two, it's almost the same.
The only difference is the night side of the airless planets. That one is REALLY dark. But that one is on purpose and I don't think they're going to be "fixing" it

Elegance is for ballet.

Anything that works is for combat.

I have never played a really modern game that self tuned the brightness and other levels for my setup.

In the patch notes they were saying that there is a fix for the gamma slider not passing info through to the game properly I will see if that makes a difference for me.

Gotta disagree with you here. Even with my gamma up, everything is still too dark. Especially the skybox. It's lost all its beauty and grandeur. It just looks like a flat black background with a few pixels of light here and there -- nothing like the vastness it used to portray.

I haven't bought EDO yet and I'm not going to with this lighting in place. I have seen enough in streams to dislike planet tech and lighting and as this will be coming to EDH as well, this will be the end of the line then - they'll destroy my EDH with it. I don't want planetary surfaces, combined out of hand-made tiles, which are in a weird way distorted. Some look nice, others are just horrible. With such a system it will be the same like with the exobiological stuff - hand-made stuff where they do too little too late with too less of variety. ED was meant to be a procedurally generated game - and now they step away from it, why? I don't want that planetary tech in my EDH and even less the lighting.

I pretty much never had to adjust brightness or gamma in any of my games, as well not in EDH - so why would I want to start with that now. It's their job to make it right.

Well, if you don't buy EDO I guess you'll never know, then.
I have my fair share of problems with Odyssey, but if I'm honest (and I'm sorry) but your reason to dislike it seems a bit fabricated, which is something I've developed a bit of an allergy to. There are too many of you of late.
