Is it just me or is there something weird going on here...View attachment 238069
Do you happen to have a screenshot of this planet without the heatmap? So far I never saw an image of the actual planet when somebody came up with such a heatmap. I'd like to know if in these cases only the heatmap is bonkers or if the planet underneath looks the same. Usually the heatmap reflects the planetary features to some degree.
 
Also, some purpose oriented pics:

1. EDO has not surface details/LOD is too low - often true, but when bugs don't kick in : details/terrain texture is visible even on mountains far away:

2. Flat, boring terrain - again, its true too often.
But there are also terrain like these - - I recommend trying out SRV here to see how "flat" it is :)
Notice the scale - how tiny is the ship.
