Grind requirements are insane

The game should be fun, not work. Because it seems that there are a lot of people here to whom real life presents everything on a plate, so they do nothing in their lives except stupidly grind in all sorts of elites day and night. I don't have to carve out a few hours of MY real life on a pointless grind after work.
Instead of offering interesting gameplay in both single and cooperative mode with many friends (not just three). The developers have replaced everything with a dull grind for the sake of an even bigger and bigger grind.
You grind only if you want.
You can do anything, mining, exploring, pvp, pve. without grind.

What in the new content do you suggest we do without grinding? Because right now the Planet tech is pretty busted and the only place to get materials to improve our gear is literately grinding foot settlements oh btw if you wanted a legal way to do it like with ship engineers tough, because apparently we're all murder hobos now according to Frontier though their design in Odyssey.

This game was sold on having multiple play styles but this expansion has thrown that out the window and only given meaningful rewards towards one play style and the table scraps the explorers got is half broken.

Now that I have several hours gameplay in EDO I was curious how much more grind is required to get suit and weapon upgrades. It shocked me. So far, I was only able to collect a small percentage of the stuff required. I'm not good at FPS, so I don't go into settlement missions.
So, how shall a non-FPS player get enough mats for at least 2 suits (Artemis, Maverick) in a reasonable time?

FDev disabled all relogging "exploits" I'm aware of, which makes the situation worse. And I'm not saying that logoffski gameplay is fun.

To just upgrade all 3 suits (Artemis, Maverick, Dominator) from grade 1 to grade 5 you need the following materials. Be aware: This is just upgrading, engineering is on top of that. Data collected from crafting lists in INARA.
  • 93 Suit Schematic
  • 87 Health Monitor
  • 90 Power Regulator
  • 63 Manufacturing Instructions
  • 80 Aerogel
  • 80 Titanium Plating
  • 80 Carbon Fibre Plating
  • 240 Graphene
To upgrade 2 guns (randomly selected: Manticore Oppressor, Karma P-15) from 1 to 5 you need this:
  • 10 Weapon Schematic
  • 42 Manufacturing Instructions
  • 31 Compression-Liquefied Gas
  • 31 Ionised Gas
  • 80 Tungsten Carbide
  • 80 Weapon Component
  • 80 Chemical Superbase
  • 64 Microelectrode

Yes. The grind requirements are insane and should be looked at.

I wonder why would one grind/upgrade Artemis suit. Just buy one grade 3 and forget it. The biologist game play is just a joke.

And if you need to upgrade just 2 weapons, be sure to go for Manticore Executor and Manticore Tormentor. You really want to have those plasma accelerators in a game of paper/rock/scissors.

Old post I know, but the Artemis has the best Jetpack in the game, by a HUGE margin, Engineering it to be even better lets you essentially fly everywhere. You don't HAVE to use the Artemis for just exobiology. I frequently use it as a sniper kit because it can get places even grenades can't reach. It also has decent backpack capacity, though I wish it could carry more than one E-breach.

I do not consider higher jumps good enough to drop second primary weapon or arc cutter. As I said, for now I do not see need to have combat variant of Artemis suit.

Personally, i used the Artemis with the LR-6. No need for 2 primary weapons this way 😇

What ever floats your boat. (y)

My personal opinion on your preferences is that you combine the worst suit for combat with the least flexible primary weapon - limiting ammo, slow reload, not-efficient enough vs. shields, large area of affect making it unwise to use indoors. 🤷‍♂️

One of the key problems with this grind is that if you grind in an optimised way (who doesn't?), then you're not doing the missions like FDev designed them. Resetting instances 100 times in a row is really bad gameplay no matter how you spin it; it's indefensible. So the choice is 30 hours of deathly boring, instance-resetting, non-gameplay, or 1000 hours of ok gameplay. These choices suck.

That's why it work. FDev didn't expect that you'll just jump around while carpet bombing NPCs 😄

You can play normal without legs 🤷‍♂️
No correlation. i play with legs in odyssey wiouth grindings just like always, i have 4000hs of playtime and never grind, also a lot of engeniered ships.
just play the game normal do misions. detruy ships, coletc the cargo materials.

all the components needed for engeniering comes with time, there is no rush.
its not what elite is for. just fly your ship in this 1 to 1 milky way simulator.

NOW, if you want all now , be the best of the best, have the top of the top engeniered ship. GRIND BUT NOT BLAME THE GAME, BLAME YOU.
