I don't really care about all that noise. I just want it fixed.100% this. FDev set themselves up for failure yet again.
Whatever happens tomorrow:
- They adjust the drop requirements: will feel like they fixed a bug which didn't allow it to drop.
- They adjust the drop rate: will feel like they fixed a bug which didn't allow it to drop.
- They fix a bug which didn't allow it to drop: will feel like they fixed a bug which didn't allow it to drop.
- They do nothing: will feel like they should have fixed a bug which didn't allow it to drop.
Trust is already in shambles. Community managers and the support team are in the front lines of this mess.
I feel sorry for these guys, but I don't trust their (FDev as a whole company) word anymore.
But some people prefer the churn.I don't really care about all that noise. I just want it fixed.
It was newer. It also came with more bugs. I'm not defending FDev's previous behavior.Like they had no reason to lie about the state Odyssey would launch?
"The alpha is an older build. We have one which is so much newer and shiny".

Currently, they are being much more open and honest. I heard the stream the other day where they talked about the smear stuff being in the game and that they were upping the drop rates because no one was finding it.
The young man on the stream wasn't lying. So now the conspiracy would have to include that the devs had purposely been lying to the rest of the business... Exactly how tangled do you want this to get?
I prefer the razor approach myself.
Hanlon's RazorIsn't there also a razor somewhere talking about not attributing to malice what can be explained by ineptitude? I'm going to laugh pretty hard when they up the drop rate, people continue to never see it, and they only realize after actually checking that the blockage to them spawning at all was somewhere else in the codebase...I recall a certain puzzle they implemented a couple years back where they "checked to make sure" that the end goal was spawning and in-game, but forgot to check the step of the puzzle before the end...
Hello! Not entirely what you'll want to hear but we're still looking into things on the Smear Campaigns side. Literally top of my list on this side with check ins. Thanks so much for holding out. Will keep digging for you.
I hope they just quietly adjusted it so that when someone finds it they can say "oy vey! see we told you it was working you ungrateful ingrates" and they can quietly sweep this fiasco under the carpet as at this point there isn't anything more they can do to salvage the reputation hit they've taken and the best is to just 'neither confirm nor deny' and hope it goes away eventually.Nothing mentioned for SCP in update 4 (Although Opinion polls are now down to 20)
Thanks, Zac!Hello! I'll add a bit more context to what's happening with Smear Campaigns. Read no further if you don't like a slight peek behind the curtain! We're going to be upgrading the chances of coming across rare/high value data at difficult settlements, and we're also going to be tweaking what is available in some settlement types, which will organically increase your chances of coming across Smear Campaigns where you expect them to be.
This isn't in Update 4, at the moment we're aiming for Update 5.

Are you suggesting they are somewhere? Because it's not like they are rare, they just DON'T EXIST according to players that were looking for them very intensely (likeHello!
