Please commit to rerolling the planets...

It must be a stupid new trend in Cambridge. Apparently they're sabotaging their other titles too....

No pressure, it's only been nearly a month.
I mean, it's not like planets are a very important part of a DLC featuring walking on said planet.
And it has taken Cyberpunk 2077 over half a year of fixes to get "good enough" to get back at PS store. And it still comes with a disclaimer stating base consoles are not the best way to play it.

I'm thinking it will take time for Odyssey to be properly fixed. I wouldn't even expect a console release for this year.

I don’t get the repeated calls to reroll/rollback things because some people don’t like the new planet tech.
It's less a case of 'don't like the new planet tech', and more a case of losing an entire way of playing the game - seeing a core activity scrapped because of the changes.
That's why there's calls for it - because a change would mean people who enjoyed that could still play the game in this way. It's not just complaints about visuals.

Bugs aside, I personally think it’s an improvement overall. Most of the worlds I’ve seen in Horizons are equally as boring as most of the worlds in Odyssey, but there’s more variety on Odyssey worlds themselves.

You're not looking for the same things. There's a lot less variety in extreme terrain in Odyssey, and in those terms it's a huge downgrade. Plastic plants and more boring biomes don't count.

There was a comment made about preserving popular areas, which clearly hasn’t happened. Maybe it would be better to compile a list of places people want preserved to present to FDev. Just a thought.
Lists were compiled and shared with FDev in advance of Odyssey's launch, and even pre-alpha. They were ignored, along with concerns.

So, I agree it's almost pointless given the relative deafness of FDev to even seeing it as a problem. That's just how it is, so people are leaving to play other games.

But fixing your issues doesn't require a rollback/reroll, although it does require some work and promise-keeping from FDev.
And you know this how?

That's why I said personally. Boring is a subjective statement, you're writing off other peoples gameplay as easily as people write yours off...

There is less variety in extreme terrain, and we were also told in the Alpha that we didn't have the extremes as it hadn't been fully implemented. There's little to no change from Alpha, so we're still waiting for those extremes.

If you weren't selectively quoting me, you'd have read that I acknowledged that the "main problem, as I see it, is that most (all?) the interesting places in the Bubble have now disappeared and have been replaced with generic (bugged) planets."

But having spent more time outside the bubble than in, the majority of planets in Horizons are outright dull and uniform, and in my opinion, the Odyssey planet overall are an improvement. That doesn't mean that they've not taken away extremely interesting planets that were in Horizons or even written off entire sections of emergent gameplay.
I'm not writing off anyone else's gameplay - I'm giving my subjective view on planets. Other people's gameplay isn't being removed by the planet tech.

We were told a lot of things in alpha that ended up being untrue. Why believe things now?

I was quoting selectively because I was addressing specific points. I had nothing to say about your acknowledgement - it's fine.

I too have spent a vast amount of time outside the bubble, as well as inside, and understand well the variation in Horizons planets. I've also seen enough from Odyssey to understand that the engine changes have fundamentally stripped out this kind of play. I don't really care about the overall, as this issue is specific.

Well, if contacting FDev directly doesn't work, I'm sure posting threads on the forum they don't even use to make announcements on will work for those guys doing it.
Included in the interests of not selectively quoting you. What do you think would work then?

They also suffered a big cyberattack that must have slow down their work.

They also offered unconditional refund on every platform. I couldn't refund Odyssey myself.

Finally, CP did work fine on my computer. I heard it was not true for console, apparently, but they offered refund and stopped selling there.

As for PS store, sony simply wanted to make an example because CP said to people to get a refund through the PS store. And sony lost a lot of money and they hate refund.
They never give a f*** if it works or not. It passed through cert, may I remind you. And they hyped NMS years before.

Please consider taking every opportunity to tell them the planets aren't good enough, in the hopes that we get a more serious revisiting of the generation algo, and some of the most important locations retain their unique character (Ariel, and others).
This is the biggest topic on these forums, the player base has spoken I think we can say, but fdev is silent - why do you think is that?

I'm fairly certain the length of week ends are not affected by my posting. That's not what Einstein meant when he said "time and space are relative".

It's the weekend right now though. Early Sunday evening in the UK (where Frontier is based). This thread started yesterday.

Frontier have historically not been great at communicating but if you e-mail whoever you want to get an answer from they usually are pretty quick to respond. Usually ;)

But not on a weekend.

The thread @Erei references runs since day 1 of the Odyssey release....

Edit: Or slightly later.
