The first mission I tried after Update 5 was a simple legal fetch mission. I was friendly with the entire settlement, so no worries. I just found a terminal, locked on to chest I needed, and ran off to collect the item. As I reached maximum altitude with my jetpack, a guard decided to scan me. I stopped all forward movement, and tried to land directly in front of the guard. That only made it easier for the guard to turn hostile and open fire just before I landed.
I understand why jumping away shouldn't be a way to avoid scans. It would have made more sense to consider if the player is already in the air before starting the "halt, commander" sequence.
I force-closed the game with 7 missions active. I've got better things to do......
Edit:
I've got alot of money invested in Virpil gear, and a new high-end PC so I could really enjoy gaming again. Elite Dangerous is no longer enjoyable to me. I'll happily return if FDev ever develops a "Quality over Quantity" mindset. Until then, I'm out.
