Development Update 2 - July

Request/suggestion for distant future, a big ship carrying just 4 people is still kinda less so I hope we can just have Cmdrs standing in the cockpit or elswhere in the ship while it flies or atleast be seated in tahe passenger cabins xD
Big ships like the Anaconda, Corvette and Cutter etc should have a bridge bustling with npc crew doing there jobs. I mean there's no way in reality that a ship like these would be flown single-handed.

I have large ships (corvettes, etc.) that DO have npc crew bustling about on the bridge doing their job. Just not in this game. :(

Well than post ALL the bugs in the issue tracker but keep in mind you are not the only customer so bugs that get reported more are focused. If the bugs you are experiencing arent really common and mainly happening for you well then I am affraid NO development company would jump on fixing those. Literally how this whole thing works.
a) You must be new around here if you consider the issue tracker fit for purpose.
b) Factualy Incorrect. My development company fixes ALL bugs that can be fixed. 90% of them are reported, logged, reproduced, groomed, scheduled, fixed, tested, shipped and installed in the time it takes me to even get an issue Confirmed with FD (I am not exagerting). Then it will probably expire before anyone in development knows it exists.

I have wasted many many hours on the issue tracker, and think 1 has EVER been fixed.

b) is not factually incorrect, I also merely sad that while those bugs may be there, there is more concerning issues for the product rn. Yes all bugs are supposed to be fixed YET you focus on the bugs that are of most concern to the user. This then you determine through something like the issue tracker. But generally you dont jump straight to the low priority bugs that dont concern many users. Why would you fix smth instantly that barely anyone noticed or has experienced while on the other hand you have issues that impact most if not all users. That doesnt mean those low prio bugs shouldnt get fixed, but they are LOW PRIORITY.

Also I doubt anyone at FD has a clue how anything from the legacy codebase works.

Oh and btw theoretically speaking the issue tracker is fit for the task. There is a difference between considered and ignored. I assume the issue tracker has been mostly ignored in the past.

Lore wise, the Imps favour slave flesh bag crew, while Feds automation according to Mike Brookes once on a dev diary long ago.
Meatbags also have upkeep that would have to be paid. I’m sure it would be a resounding success on the forum if that was introduced as an additional running cost.
The arguments against it would be something along the lines of “why am I being punished for playing the game?”, which seems to be the go-to argument when challenges or danger is introduced to Elite Dangerous.

:D S

I'm loving the fact they have added the new amd FSR rather than the fsr CAS.

It will help everyone including consoles at some point

Leaving the kick to the groin levels of annoyance at Powerplay- what ships are going to get four seats I wonder?

Remember the Fed Dropship and Gunship need some love, since the Alliance counterpart(s) have more seats- Keelback?

Just please- please do not cram them into fighters or anything out of place. My brain still throbs from having a space superiority fighter (Vulture) as a dropship....when we have a ship called a Dropship thats for dropping troops.

Federal-specific issue aside, the Dropship is enormous and would look comically out of place dropping little 6 man fireteams into settlements (some of which would even be dwarfed by, or at least comparable in size with, the dropship itself). Since the CZs often have multiple dropships from both sides active in the area at once, using the FDS just wouldn't work. The FDS looks like it's designed to deploy whole platoons, including armored support. Just wouldn't make sense for the CZs we have now.

Just sayin...

Update 5 fixed an awful lot of game stopping bugs for me, I might be lucky , but the one killer for me was the terrain textures. Hopefully this next update will put my elite experience back to where it was in horizons. Hopefully update 6 will stop the constant moaners and whiners once and for all. ..yeah I can dream :) I for one have been enjoying oddessy, and appreciate the efforts to get it working as intended.

Agreed. For me the planetary textures are not far off, they mostly look pretty great, but any upgrades would be very welcome. I’d also like more stability for teams, and the linked up missions is very high on my wish list ( linking the ship missions to the ground missions ). So overall very happy with the dev update, and still enjoying Odyssey at my own ( slow ) pace.

They are just adding more colours and putting higher quality textures on the ground... Why do people think they are changing the terrain generation?

Thank you FDev for these game fixes, but isnt' the idea to fix the current bugs without interducing more bugs with game content. Sorry FDev but I have to say you have proven over and over you can't intruduce more content without intruducing more bugs. I thought the idea was to move as quickley as possible to the console release. don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the hardwork at fixing the issues we are facing. just looking forward to playing on the console with my buddies who don't have a PC.
