Big Elite Streamers Giving Up On Streaming Elite?

OA by himself has ~270,000 subscribers.
And the overwhelming majority of them are from Flight Simulator 2020. As he said, ED has become largely unneeded for his YT channel.
The overwhleming majority? What percentage is that? Has he won over 50% of his subscribers in less than a year (2020 Flight Sim was released in August 2020)?
Again, as he said, ED is a relatively small part of his views. So yeah, since august 2020 he got multiple times more subscriptions than he got from ED the past decade or whatever.
At the end of the day more than 90% of his views are from FS2020, not ED. Deal with it.
To correct some false information here...

Since August 2020, ObsidianAnt has gained ~75k of his current total 272k subscribers, and posted ~100 videos each of Elite and FS2020.

Regarding total views on his channel, 9.7m are from Elite videos and 12.5m are from FS2020.

And that's 9.7 million since 2014, and 12.5 million in the last 11 months.

He simply gets by far more attention with his FS2020 videos. Which is fine, but let's call a spade a spade.
He certainly does get vastly more attention with his FS2020 videos: AAA game from AAA publisher, and first-party product for a console manufacturer and game platform (Xbox store & gamepass).

However, stating that 90% of his views and overwhelming majority of subscribers are from FS2020 would be very incorrect, as both stats are easy to check and disprove.

Yep, however the two commenters were discussing since August 2020 so i continued that.

Makes sense. It just stood out to me as a weird place to draw the line, regardless of who chose it, given the way the industry fosters pre-release hype and how I'd speculate that hype would drive subject matter views. I should know better than to jump to page 83 and think I know what's going on. I should know better, but I don't.

How many views did he get from FS2020 in 2021? How many from ED? Anyway, in the last week he got 25k views with ED, and 500k views with FS. So yeah, not 90% but 95%. :p

I think OA himself would be very disappointed if his six FS2020 videos (during its launchweek on Xbox consoles supported by vast publisher marketing) didn't get more views than his one Elite video in that same timeframe.

I dont get why you are so evasive and defensive. All I said was that he gets his vast majority of views from FS2020, which in the last week was even 95%. Every single FS2020 vid of his last five got at least twice as many views as his ED vid. As he said, ED is only a very small part now, or as he put it recently, he "doesnt need ED" for his channel. That is not an attack on ED or anything, or surprising or whatever. Johnny Depp is famous and a musician, but he doesn't need the band much.

So TLDR yes I think some (not all) content creators (naming no names) have too high opinion of themselves and believe they speak for the masses
I've encountered a couple of them, mostly from the country where "big egos" is what we're known for. The people I follow are confident in themselves and their contributions to the Elite community, but they are also fairly humble and make it very clear that they speak for themselves and not everyone as a whole.

As I said in another thread, I tend to be more interested what CCs are passionate about rather than what they are salty about, which is why a certain salty Latvian doesn't appeal to me. Watching Drew Wager play NMS has been a real joy based on his wonder and enthusiasm as he experiences the game for the first time. Even if I get bored with NMS tomorrow, I'll continue to love his NMS series. Same goes with Kate enjoying Star Citizen.

Speaking of, I also watch Rusty Dog play Odyssey (in the background) while I play X4 or NMS, despite not having interest in that DLC myself at the moment, again because he's pretty passionate about it and even makes it look fun at times.

So, are there some big streamers who haven't given up on ED?
None of them have. All any of them have done is diversify in the face of dropping popularity in the game. Can't blame them for that, unless you're religiously devoted to the game, in which case they're apostates.

I would pose one question however. If there had not been such a vocal reaction after the launch of Odyssey, had FDev not seen reviews tank, and content creators abandon coverage of the game, what would the state of the game be now? How many patches would we have gotten? Would they have postponed the console integration so as to put more resources into fixing the PC version? If ED pulls out of this mess, it won't have been the sycophants who'll have saved it.

An unanswerable question, and therefore, you supposition about the "sycophants" is silly (especially since no community is full of sycophants, there will always be those who are reasonably critical and those who are unreasonably critical in any community), since FD might have put the same effort into improving Odyssey without all the negativity. We could even speculate that without all the negativity things might have been much further along, as CMs would have had to spend less time sorting out the real issues from all the chaff, the developers might have been more motivated, and management might have been more focused. Pure speculation as well and no foundation to believe that over the opposite either.

Personally i've never understood the mentality of people who do victory dances over the devs doing something that in theory they should have done anyway, and trying to take credit for the devs doing it. If you truly believe its only through the efforts of the complainers that the devs fixed the game, walk away from the game right now, because the devs do not deserve your support anyway.

Personally, i'd say any victory dances are still premature anyway. For me the game is still unplayable. Although what I can see in general looks good (with some issues), and hoping FD can improve performance more.

Still, good point about them diversifying. Putting all your eggs in one basket is always a risky move. Reminds me of SaltEMike (Star Citizen streamer) to who someone suggested a year or less ago that perhaps he should "pivot". He said he was too old to pivot. However, in the last few months, he's been playing other games, and while this might cause him to lose some viewers, the hardcore faithful who only watch him for his SC content and consider his playing other games a betrayal, over time, if he is good, he should find his channel growing.

Anyway, in the end, it appears the whole premise of this thread is a load of tosh.

honestly i think you do me a disservice here -

I have committed enormous amounts of my time to creating guides to get CMDRs introduced to AX combat as well as being a former staff member at AXI- I've done my part - what have you done for the community exactly?

also my video titles are not 'An Elite CMDR now places SC INSTEAD' -but 'an Elite CMDR plays SC'. there is a difference there and framing it otherwise is disengenuous

do not paint me as someone that 'used ED to gain followers' - I am still the number 1 pilot on the AXI ACE leaderboard - that takes time and commitment beyond what you can imagine.
That's what I really like about your content (Not that I watch a lot of content, I rather play myself...) Compared to some other streamers you really know what you're talking about and don't just run after the next exploit clickbait. Being #1 AXI pilot is serious business. (y)

And the praise you get from @Mole HD for Star Citizen makes me consider jumping on that one sooner or later too...
If there wasn't that abysmal business practice from CI.

One question: did you ever dabble in PvP? Many AXI skills are at least partially important for PvP too...
