Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

Exactly this, Graphically its not the same game it was in 2014, its has 3 or 4 face lifts since then, it is unreasonable to expect it to run on 10 year old lower end hardware.

I don't think anyone is saying that a game that has increased in requirements shouldn't need a better computer.

That wasn't my point at all.

Keep your hype in check. They've been showing off other systems for years.

We know CIG can do planet surfaces. It doesn't mean they have something ready to release (pending appropriate Jesus techs).

Don't fall for the "once (tech) is in place the content floodgates will open".
All i said was "Nyx System Moon surfaces preview"

Yup. And i suggested keeping your hype in check. Maybe you are, then that's fine. My advice wasn't needed.

You know though that there will be some backers out there getting their panties all wet over this.

I mean... do i even need to take a look at /r/sc or Spectrum to confirm this?

EDIT: To be fair to you though, you've never shown yourself to be the type to get unwarranted excited over CIG's videos.

Hi
I have not played in years (I don't want to burnout before it's launched so planning to wait until no more wipes of gear) My pledge gives me a 300i and iirc 5000 credits
Out of curiosity (and with the understanding balancing may change) how long does it take to get the biggest ships currently in the game without being gifted cash , ships or any other help.
Thanks

Well, none of the capital ships are in yet so we have no idea how many credits those would cost. Upgrading from a starter ship to the Avenger Titan is anywhere between 25 and 50 hours of gameplay due to bugs and disconnects (around 800,000 aUEC to purchase). You can start getting into the big boys like the 890J or Hammerhead (32m aUEC and 12m aUEC respectively) but that's, uh, a lot of hours. A lot. This is an alpha and all things are subject to change completely, so who knows what those hours will look like in a year or two.

Although you can just use any of the known aUEC exploits to give yourself near unlimited aUEC, so yeah. Just do that if you want to test some ships. Dunno if those exploits are fixed for 3.14.

In 3.13, when you get to top level rep, you can make around 500k aUEC an hour. The 300i would be capable enough to take on these missions.

However, that most likely will be changing in 3.14 which is probably going live today. Income will most certainly go down. Dont know what the best way to make credits will be.

Think this is the main point. Nobody knows how easy/hard credits will be to come by on release.

Will they favour the whales by making credits hard or make them easy to favour the newbies, or somewhere in between?
