Little fuzzies.

This is no doubt very very old news.
On the galaxy map (Horizons) if you zoom out you see loads of small fuzzy spots everywhere, which are stars that you can visit.

Zooming in shows the star to have a fuzzy look.

I have seen these before, but not really taken any notice of them. I'm now out exploring and I have visited 3 of them just to find that they are just your average run of the mill system.

So why are they fuzzy? Were they something special in the past before some sort of nerf screwed them up?

Planetary Nebulae, they are usually O- or occasionally B- class (very large, short lived) stars. I always visit when one is nearby but don't seek them out. Most are not really tourist destinations.

Some smaller stars, often young ones like T Tauri's have a glowing cloud also but rarely do they end up being planetary nebula, in those cases I think it is the Stellar Forge's way of representing stars with a lot of dust still left over from planet formation, but not enough to form a nebula.
