State of the Game

you haven't seen the "between worlds" kind of planets, I guess - that are life forms looking like a picket fence or other abstract shapes. Or the ethereal planets - often called "bubbly planets", where most are spheres and bubbles hovering in the air, Fauna on those planets are often bubbles filled with a poisonous fluid. It is surreal and I give you that the game is anything but real, fantastic in a way and sometimes straight out crazy - but I found a world which looks at night time pretty much like Pandora in the Avatar movie, just not that rainforest-like. Then the weather conditions on those planets are out of this world as well, I disliked it at first, but now I am really curious what the next abstract planet will look like and what kind of Fauna and Flora there is. I found a wonderful planet, quite polluted though, but the Fauna there is just awesome, huge herds of large herbivores hunted by packs of predators, which are even bigger - they make for a marvelous ranch there - and any such planet is different, somewhat familiar but different and unique.

Morning good Bretheren and Sisteren of the Brebus!

Just to throw my 2 credits in. To me different games scratch different itches for folks and some games do this or that better which is all good. Elite for me is a spaceship sim first because I like "flying" my spaceship the other elements at least until Oddy flowed from that. I don't have a real opinion on EDO at the moment but I agree with brother Rubbernuke on the EDO (from what I been able to observe as a console pleb) seemingly being developed by ppl unfamiliar with ED overall but I hope overtime they can more fully integrate it and flesh out some of the planet side stuff (/dream ELW's?). On the other hand obviously the rollout was botched 9 ways from Sunday. Like any other game I'll keep playing so long as the main reason I'm playing remains enjoyable or the game sunsets. For now I'm still having fun flying my ships so I'll continue to do so. I'll hopefully get a chance to try EDO at some point and once I finally get around to putting a new gaming rig together I'm looking forward to ED in VR, getting MSFS, and trying other games (old and new) that I've got on the shelf or I've been interested in. Bottom line for me is play what you enjoy and respect what others may enjoy.

And "Welcome to Pandora"

I understand - well, I'm a private pilot flying a 21m class Jonkers sailplane, a 1-seat Mosquito XET helicopter and a 5-seat Robinson R66 helicopter - if I want that flying experience, I can have that in real life, I don't need that in a game, even I really enjoyed flying in FA off in Elite - at least one thing I really enjoyed in ED. But this entertains me for how long? I more or less experienced that my playing time per session decreased massively and I'm no longer having fun in Elite.

And to the Pandora part - when this Ubisoft game of Pandora will come out, this will be the next thing I might be playing a whole lot - simply because I like this freaking moon.

Lucky you with the RL flight stuff.

Sorry your other experiences with ED are not up to snuff.

@ Lysette
It's all good o7. I enjoyed a lot of the planet side stuff (and ship interiors /shhhh) in Star Wars Galaxies even after SOE's "Combat Upgrade" which sounds similar to your ranching and culinary efforts in NMS and played that game right to the server shutdowns so i know where you're coming from on that type of play. I played the X series for a while as well (but that felt more like space fleet manager simulator than a full on space flight sim) plus a lot of us and certainly me, play ED today because it was, in its early forms, one of the first games we got into as young gamers. Nostalgia is a heck of a drug.

Guess I should have used an RTS game as an example lol I suspect you're not a Napoleanic era general are you sister Lysette? 😉

Dinner? I'm still 3 hours out from lunch; or is it a meeting at 1300 today? I'll have to check my calendar.

Such as...?
