What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

Hi All,
Finally found some free time recently so here's some shots of one my franchise zoo's I've been working on. Grassland biome with mainly African/Australian sections. Let me know what you guys think!

Hi All,
Finally found some free time recently so here's some shots of one my franchise zoo's I've been working on. Grassland biome with mainly African/Australian sections. Let me know what you guys think!
These are lovely! I love the rocks and boulders flanking the paths! Very nice hippo shot, too! :D

Something that also really helped was activly thinking about the whys. Why is this here, why does the zoo hold these animals, how would they do that, etc etc. That way i slowly pieced together a lore around my zoo, which not only gives me a stronger connection to it, but also gives me cool new idears, that i wouldnt have gotten otherwise, for example wouldnt it make sense if the nyala habitat hat a seperated breeding/male enclosure, as it was inhabitated by pere davids deer before, which are known for having some of the most brutal fights of all deers during rutting. Did you know, that they stand up on their hind legs and kick after each other in addition to trying to stab each other with their antlers?
+ i have seen in multiple time with bongo enclosures, so they propaply are also up to some brutal shenanigans.
For ingame purposses, such a habitat is worthless, but it was fun and unique and made my zoo feel more like a zoo, something that i feel like is one of the most important things in this game, making your zoos actually feel like a zoo and not just an assortment of scatterd habitats.
I totally agree, a lore / a stroy behind a zoo really makes it more lively and makes you stick to it more easily. I actually usually can't even start a zoo wuthout having a story, Wingburg is my first try just winging it, but honestly, its beginning to tell me a story through it as well and that's the point bwhere I don't care that I redo almost every habitat twi times, spend hours just placing rocks or get lost in detail. Lets be honest, playing PZ in a creative way is hard work :D But so worth it!
Spent time working on this wooden accent for an awkward roof area.

My gosh, this is incredibly beautiful! Love the weathered look of it!

Rather than work on my current zoo I decided to start adding in the animals to my franchise monster...Whispering Sands. I love this zoo but it's getting unwieldy (it's why the three habitats in the upper right still don't have the SEA animals in them :ROFLMAO: ). But it is still pulling in a great profit so it's a success! I realized I'd pretty much contained the North American section without a lot of room to expand, so I'm just adding in a second section, lower left. Just added in the cougar but will work on some more. I haven't even added half the animals from the new pack in any of my zoos yet!

Looks great and the exhibit one is really nice

Well, I'm on a 6-hour car trip (well, now 3 hours left). So I opened up PZ to play offline in sandbox to see the new sculpted maps and the animals....

What...
An...
Amazing...
DLC...

I'm loving the gators (Crawdad and his mate, Buttercup)

2 beavers...
2 cougars...
6 bullfrogs...

Now i gotta try the sea lions, moose, and the fox, then see how the new seated areas work. This pack is great

I build a beaver habitat and am - as alway with my first draft - not really happy with the outcome. Don't even know if the habitat is in the right place. ^^ I'll make another one in my next session. But this little fellas need surprisingly much space, don't they? They are so small, they almost get lost in their habitat.

Don't hate me: is it kinda weird I prefer the flat maps better than the sculpted?

I love the sculpted maps; they are beautiful landscapes. But, I feel like I can't build my zoo the same way. It's weird. Maybe I'm just not used to them

Don't worry, I won't even touch the sculpted. I prefer to do terraforming myself, even though I'm not good at it.
I'm with Swjos. Right from when the new system was announced I knew I'd never use it, or the pre-sculpted maps. IMO terraforming as I go feels more organic anyway.

I started my new North America Section in my current Franchise zoo yesterday. I created a cabin at the entrance to serve as a place for an information booth and bathrooms, plus hide the utilities, and other back stage items behind. I’m not 100% in love with the path, but it was the best I could get it after a lot of manipulation.

I think I'd love to use the maps but I have a feeling I do not have the technical know how to do it justice. I'd love to start trying out one, on sandbox of course. As shown in my pictures my terraforming needs work, but I think it's improved a little, after I roughen it up and what not.

I was really productive yesterday evening and today morning and added two more habitats to my Arctic section, one for reindeers and the other one for Arctic wolves. Still WIP but I already really like the way it goes.
My polar bear and dall sheep habitats are still not finished but for some reason I always tend to move on to another habitat before finishing one. That's why my zoo basically consists of a lot of unfinished habitats. But I think that's my style of playing the game. When I feel motivated I'll eventually finish these habitats and maybe this helps that the themed areas are really built in the same style.

WIP Arctic wolf habitat (yes, another Hagenbeck's style panorama habitat because you can never have enough of them)

Then it suddenly started snowing. I want to share this shot as well, it looks so beautiful in my opinion.
