Pirate Lords require additional Corvette builds

THE PROBLEM
Elite ranked Pirate Lords for the "engage and destroy known pirate/take down known pirate" mission fly a Corvette with the following weapons
2x Class 4 Plasma Accelerator
1x Class 3 Turreted Cannon
2x Class 2 Turreted Multicannon
2x Class 1 Turreted Pulse Laser
Now that's not a bad build for an NPC to use, if it wasn't for them not being able to fire turrets if they haven't hit you with a weapon. They've been like this for years.
Pirate Lords in Pythons and FASs are a significantly higher challenge and a threat than a large ship which cannot do damage to anyone who has enough skill to dodge plasma. They're ranked Elite, they're supposed to be hard.

THE SOLUTION
Give them a few additional builds which have at least 1 of the following features
A gimballed weapon
Non-turret laser
Fighterbay
They should also be given ECM as NPCs are too bad to dodge reverb cascade torpedoes
Here are some builds I would suggest they're given
Easier(?) solution: Fix NPCs not being able to fire turrets without hitting their target with a weapon first

Bonus build: Imperial Dread Pirate battlebus

The main problem I see with these is the Corvette is a barn door to hit with fixed weapons and the shields and hull are made of tissue paper. It can have whatever weapons you want- it'll still drop in minute or so. Uprating that will just get complaints of creating bullet sponges, so probably not a good choice on the whole.

Perhaps a few support ships could help though. Political assassinations have this in the form of sys sec around the target. Perhaps a pirate fleet around the Corvettes would encourage some kind of strategy around these missions (as well as extra bounties if you shoot some down).

Here's something that I threw together for funsies. Might be too much for a pirate lord, but it would be interesting one to encounter occasionally.
Terror-class Interdictor
There's just one small problem, it's going to cook itself when it banks. After 3 banks it's not going to be doing so well anymore, let alone 5

The hull and shields should be roughly equal to what they already have (with the exception of adding a larger SCB to encourage players to get a feedback cascade rail), I don't think the in-game corvette has any engineering so I didn't engineer my proposals either. Only wing assassination missions have engineered pirates, and there's a whole wing of them.
With the additional designs for the Corvette I mainly aim to bring some variety to it and to let them actually shoot, they've used this exact same build for almost 6 years. I dare say I know their Corvette better than I know some of my own ships.

The 'solution' is to have random wings of ships rather than relying on one ship- its far more fun to face random threats because even with more Corvette builds you are going to do 90% the same fighting it.

I bet if you had a wing of 4 G5 Phasing Sidewiders, or a mixed group (like the old pirate lord POIs) you'd have more fun.

That's what wing assassination missions do, they have wings of engineered ships. Though they require a fully engineered ship and/or friends, doing them solo puts them too far above the single Corvette in difficulty. But yeah I'll make a support ship for the Vette.

I mean is, singular ships (unless they are CZ Captain level) are just cannon fodder and really a dead end IMO. They only come alive if you stack them.

Good suggestion. I like the modified ideas above where you get random spawns of wings too like the assassination mission ones.

Perhaps those could be improved by removing the non hostile response to them dying by ramming, although that is a great sport trying to get them just by ramming!
