How can I afford a fleet carrier?

Think of a carrier as a long term objective. Earn an average of 50 million a day and in four months you will have enough. A couple of hours play a day should be enough. You might have time to do other stuff to keep you sane though.

Mr. Hat, I am happy to just clock along with wing massacre missions. I have currently 6 ships. But I can suddenly decide. Ok, I want to go explore? Then I have to travel 300ly to get my ship.

I'm just lazy, and want to be able to make all my ships go to me at the click of a button if I'm honest

I wasn't being critical old chap, I'm just trying to suggest be a little circumspect in case you run out of gas as you go along :)

After 5 (or is it 6 now) years of daily play I have 2 billion credits to my name but an awful lot of good memories and I still enjoy playing. Personally I decided not to bother even trying for one. I must say I'm kinda astonished by just how many fleet carriers there are knowing how much grind is required to get one. I wonder if FD are surprised too?

No way, I'm claiming all the derelict soon-to-be-decommissioned fleet carriers as well, funny names and all.
I wouldn't be terribly surprised if quite a few of the ones bought with 30% off will be decommisioning in the next few weeks. Although with them being less of a novlety now, maybe the new owners have bought them with purpose in mind.

I bought one without a purpose really. Threw a load of money in the reserves so it will probably outlast me in this game.

Just my 2 cents. It appears to me that you are trying to blaze to all the endgame stuff as fast as you can. What then? The real fun is with medium ships usually, and doing things that aren’t particularly profitable. Although just about everything makes positive cash flow. Sounds to me like you will regret having fun along the way. And this could easily lead to your running out of things to grind and become bored to death. Slow down and just play whatever you find fun. The credits will constantly flow in, trust me.
All end game stuff?

My friend, An i mean this in the best possible way. This is just the beginning...

Peaceful resolutions aren't very Elite Dangerous, are they. The factions in that universe got 99 problems, but violence ain't one.

That is true, but I'm a lover at heart. You only have to look at my avatar to see this.

But I didn't give aisling the soggy bottom.

Yeah, you're lazy allright. Willing to grind 6 billion credits is the definition of laziness.
You're just willing to exchange one "grind" for another. And I'm not sure that's good exchange ratio. Instead of having to fly to your ship when you might need one, which would be once in a while, you're going to grind yourself silly now.

Just do whatever you enjoy doing at the pace you find fun. Fleet Carrier will not make your game suddenly better if you'll get tired of the game loops and bored to death by the grind.
Enjoy your game now, don't plan on doing it sometime in the future.

You can can get between 500 mil and 600 mil per 3 hour session doing pirate massacre missions, though you have to find the right station to work from because the missions do slow down a bit sometimes depending on the states of the differnt factions. It can take a few hours to get the missions, so it's a good idea to have the game running while you're doing other things, just checking every 20 minutes to grab any new missions that spawn so that you can do them all at once.

Ditto.
Thought I'd throw away some of the crazy credit stash I'd accumulated after the hilarioisly bloated payouts for everything sice "Beyond" release.
And over 90% of my credits are exploration income. :D
