What did you do in Planet Zoo today?

I worked on the habitat for the African Penguins today and I really like the outcome! I again overestimated their size, so we have plenty of space for babies :D

That means the makeover of the aquatic area is finished and I'm really happy with it.

Now I'd have to play and make some more money, also many of the smaller animals are dyeing of old age now. But I feel a bit tired, so I don't think I'll continue today. Maybe it's time to think about a new franchise zoo soon.

I kept udpating the European area in my Zarpa zoo. This time I changed the old Galapagos tortoise (which didn't fit the European area) into an Arctic fox. Since the zoo is located in the Mediterranean, I added a roof to the habitat to keep the temperature controlled.

Work flooded me and I doubt I will be able to play the next 2 weeks 😭
Keep on sharing, guys, I'm living through you!
Aww sad. It seems so the last two years, last year I was so grateful just to have a job, but now I'm burnt out on doing the work of 3 people, or at least trying to. I'm hourly part office/part remote office staff and there is a strict "no overtime" policy, yet they keep dumping more and more projects on the handful of us even approved to go in Though I only go in 2 days a week, I have my own original duties that 5 day of the three days I have to work on them. I'm actually off today as I have two dr. appointments and have some downtime in between the two I didn't want to fool with trying to cram work in.

At any rate, I play the game during the work week to chill out. If my back is not hurting from sitting in the awful chairs we have at the office. Some weeks it's better and some worse. Last week wasn't too bad. Hopefully I will feel up to playing some every evening.

It's similar for me. Up until Septembre I struggled to at least pay the rent not from my savings, then all of a sudden, within one week, my calender was FULL. And while I'm thankful and don't want to complain, it's sometimes just too much and I get grumpy when the work life balance is completely off.
If I sit on the PC for too long O get a stiff neck and very intense shoulder pain afterwards, so after 10 hours of work PZ is not an option :( I wish it was. And to not risk anything I have to cut it short on the weekend as well when I overworked during monday to friday.
But decembre will come and I thankfully took a few days off then.

Hey guys!
Unfortunately I haven't had time to play yet :(
My piggy is not doing so well and I have to take care of her a little. That always eats up a lot of time.
Maybe this weekend.

@Swjosdotschka I checked out your Instagram over the weekend. The cards are very nice! is this done with an embossing machine?
When I read this on your back and shoulder, memories come up. I had the same problem in February/March, I still remember how I lay on the sofa for one day and tears came to me because it hurt so much. I can only give you the tip: do back exercises. I do it twice a day and have never had problems since. 3 weeks ago I shoveled out a container full of bulk goods with my father and my brother, we plowed so hard and I thought that I could no longer move, but the next day I didn't even have a sore muscles.
That really changed my life.

Thank you :)
Don't know what kind of embossing machine you mean, but I use both :D For dry embossing (resulting in textured paper) I use a sizzix big shot and for heat embossing (like for instance on cards with metallic gold shine on it) a heating tool.
Feel free to PM me, when you want to deep dive into paper crafting one day ^^ I love to teach and show everyone the wonders of "my other world".

I have a question. What are requirements for jaguars to deep dive? There was a post somewhere in the News section and I can't seem to find it. Was it 4m? 6m?

Thank you :)

Ah jesus! I only unterstand trainstation 😅 I only saw someone on YT, who had stencils and cut out some ornaments.
I don't thing its something for me, because i don't know what i can do with it 😅

  • The following animals have a minimum depth requirement of 4m:
    • Formosan Black Bear
    • Grizzly Bear
    • Polar Bear
    • Sun Bear
    • Bengal Tiger
    • Siberian Tiger
    • Jaguar
In the patch news you can read this

I went through the patch notes twice and clearly missed it. Thank you, Fini!

Been a while since I have posted in this thread rather than the one I got for my current project.

Well most of the work for this wasn't in Planet Zoo technically, but I made a sign for the jaguars. Think I may have to redesign some of my old signs for the square format as well, most of them are made for screens. I like this better.

Started on the hilly trail. Also made African buffalo habitats with stables. The animals are in and now I can dress up the habitats, making it lush and bushy. There are 3 habitats for them: females with future calves (left), males (right), and a mating pen (far right, no animals right now). The cows and bulls will be kept separate for practical reasons.
Finished the buffalo habitats, and am pleased to say that my cows are pregnant with bull 1! Their area is now lush and rocky.

And decided to fill up the leftover space underneath the rocks with a babirusa habitat. I love how it came together!
I got my idea for the rocky hillside from watching @Leaf Productions 's videos on youtube. He recently used a lot of rocks and made it look so easy that I thought... I want to do that too. So here's a first effort :)

Now I'll start working on a small food court, and habitats for cassowaries and dwarf hippos. So, buffalos + babirusas + cassowaries + dwarf hippos. Anything else to add to the tropical section? Oh wait yes, asking the question is answering it: reptiles and amphibians! Wow, I came up with the answer while writing this down hahah.

"New Zealand Getaway Zoo". My main challenges will be:
  • Building elephant habitats (never built for them before) and obtaining the elephant reward (breeding both species in one zoo).
  • Building an elephant boat ride (never done a boat ride before).
  • Deciding on zoo sections and how to make use of the terrain.
  • Multiple viewing angles from all around the zoo.
  • Cool panoramashots.
  • A hilly trail that looks down over the zoo, making a beautiful view from both the top and the bottom of the zoo.

Very nice things going on with zoos in this thread. I wish I had half the skills...I feel like my zoos just look unnatural for some reason. And let's not even discuss my building "skills" lol

Mine's not as nice, but back to Jamestown Zoo! One of the things I do really like with this zoo not just that I'm expanding but how. After being hard set on getting my North American section fairly well set out, I had three different parts of the zoo to work on. Rather than just focus on one part and finishing it up, I'm switching it up and doing a little expansion on each of the sections. I'd shared my Siberian Tiger habitat before, but now I share the South American entrance section, along with his first (currently vacant) habitat. This is "under construction" for however long it takes to get them in. But I have no doubt at some point, be it this week, the next pack, or a year from now, they're going to be in eventually. And at that point I'll further beautify the habitat.

I've also added a large lake in between the upcoming African desert area and the Arctic section, to give it a feeling of biome distance. Fairly basic for now but I'll have a plan to do more later. I know I share a bit of overhead shots for this zoo, but I kind of like how it's progressing and slowly filling out.

And finally, what I was working on last night, some additional habitats for the "cold weather" section. Since this will consist of animals from a variety of regions, I'm not sure what to call it yet. Arctic Adventures comes to mind, but not all of the animals are actually Arctic animals. More on how that will come to fruition to come...meanwhile I've got spaces set for the Formosan Bear and Snow Leopard which will be what I house tomorrow if I'm up to playing (back is getting a little twingy tonight)

Frabchise zoos are tricky, as you have to care for things a normal zoo would not. For example, you tend to build habitats that are viewable from every angle. Real zoos tend to avoid "cross views", meaning they try to make sure you don't see guests from the other side of the habitat and are more emerged in looking at the animals.

In franchise, guests start to complain fast when they can not see an animal at every given time, so your builds are best for franchise, but give the feel of being "unnatural" when it comes to real zoos. So - not your fault, the games fault. :)

And with your building skills: You'll get there. Often it's minor details that can make a bit difference already. Like, putting mulch under trees instead of terraint paint, including an exhibit into a building, set the damned grid to s smaller scale when doing roofs etc.
