Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

My PC can't run Odyssey so I'm still playing Horizons

I'm a latecomer to the game too, as I'm not playing Odyssey I don't have anything interesting to tell, just massacring some pirates to earn cash. Haven't met many real life people in-game but nobody wanted to know me...
I'm in the same boat regarding Odyssey. You're welcome to pop in and tell us what you're up to Horizons anytime. We're all quite nice here!

Er... I think I'm going mad but I can't see a refinery. As well as an abrasion blaster, you could try adding a seismic launcher for sploding roids.

EDIT and a sub-surface mining missile
Yep, my bad, forgotten the refinery... 🤦‍♀️ was able to detect this crap before undocking....but then found the lazors were in station when I setup fire groups on the way to the belt....🖕😒🤷‍♀️ After all these sorted out, the first run going not bad (found PD not engineered yet at the belt...).

Around half of the ship cost already covered.

Welcome to ED, the forums and the thread!

Python was my most desired ship at one point, way back, before Engineering, when I was completely new. I struggled for months to raise the money for it, and it became my main ship for a long time. I could survive those pirates that were always interdicting me, so I was happy, and my cash flow increased tremendously once I had the Python.

I still have fond memories of it, although I don't use it much these days. Great little ship.

I still drive the Krait MK2 99% of the time because I dont like the looks of the Python half as much. The only use I have for the Python now is Robigo and transferring cargo to the FC.

I'm currently flying a dropship (serves me well) but am considering upgrading to the Krait once I have enough money saved, is it worth it or would I be best served saving up for anything else? would prefer to stay with the medium sized landing pads for versatility

I'm not one to ask/speculate on new ships.
However, the freebie Vulture has made me think I'd like an uprated Vulture. Same as, but add 2 small hardpoints. Obviously needs some downsides to offset for balance (Yes, I'm laughing).

Remembered that Mel Brandon exists!

Fortunately he's been changed from wanting us to kill The Nameless to just "prove you're a good guy and take out the criminals".

Unfortunately the first thing I met at the nav beacon was a deadly pirate in an imperial clipper with 2 wingmen. Despite already being in combat with the local authorities, he shot me down to 18% hull before he finally died; and while he was worth 383,000 credits, my repair costs were higher. Some of that is my fault; I'm still using this one-of-everything loadout I went to the first engineer with. I should at least swap the cannons out for multis so they all have the same aiming reticule, and probably pick beam or pulse lasers.

Still, that one ship solved my introduction to Mel 😹 (And boy is the Odyssey planetary FPS much worse than it was in Horizons!)

I'm clearly going to have to do some materials hunting in nearby anarchy systems to get the best out of him. Also need to pick which blueprint to pin, because I don't plan to be out here in Colonia forever. I'm already getting a little tired of it. Feels like FDev sort of forgot this exists and all the action is back in the Bubble.

(Edit, oh, and there's also Petra Olmanova... but she wants me to be Expert in combat. I'm currently at the upper end of Novice and... I'm not sure I care. That is a very, very large grind.)

Depends what you want it for.
The Krait is a good ship but, as with all ships, you'd need twice the credits to fit it out.

I did exactly this. It's a Chieftain with missiles on all hardpoints. The reasoning behind it was clearing out scavs when on restore power missions. I lack the skills - currently - to take those bad boys on foot and you don't get any money from scanning the corpses - they disappear when you disembark.

But nuking them from orbit (it's the only way to be sure) is quite fun anyway.
never try the chieftain yet!, that one seems to eluded me for some time .how's it has a ship handling. Speed and rotation.my look into that if i ever find one for sell:)

Just taken the Vulture out for a bit of hunting. There seems to be a delay between pulling the trigger and my multi-cannons firing. At first I thought they weren't working, but I wasn't holding the trigger long enough. Really don't know why they're working that way. It feels a bit buggy.

Came back from my materials journey, and decided the Alt would be best served by a DBX.

So I bought one, and took it over to Farseer to do whatever engineering I could. I sold the exploration data I had collected to her, which got me to G3 access, then went ahead and did the FSD for increased range, which brought me the rest of the way to G5 access with her. And Farseer did a few tweaks to thrusters, sensors, and shield boosters, whatever mats I had. Turned out pretty well, with a 51LY range and decent defenses. It'll be a nice all-rounder for her to flit about in. For combat I will probably outfit the Vulture at some point.

This Winking Cat stuff has really helped her along. She now has 4 ships and a fair amount of credits and mats.

well trying this last planet for the 100 million is just not worth the hassle, the darn planet is on steroids suprise anybody managed to probe it or landed on it.

It's easy. Just put yourself in it's path, and it'll scoop you up. Turn on orbital lines, so you can see where it's going, then get right in front of it and wait for it to come around.

Besides, landing on Mitterand Hollow is something all CMDRs should experience. Watching New Africa fly by overhead is thrilling. On the day side you can watch eclipse after eclipse. It's wonderful. Don't miss it.
