E:D jump range comparison of all ships in exploration builds
Sheet dates before that fsd 1 pre engineered one.
Not much difference is there.A stock T9 (with the default E class thrusters) can pitch and roll 20 degrees per second, and yaw 8 degrees per second.
With A rated thrusters it becomes 22 degrees per second and 9 degrees per second.
With Grade 5 Dirty Drives and Drag Drives, it becomes 30 degrees per second and 12 degrees per second.
That's in normal space. In Supercruise it will make no difference.
Totally believe you. I took my 37ly Crusader all the way to Ishum's Reach. Compared to that 43ly along with everything I need is really a huge upgrade. To achieve the 37ly I had to sacrifice a few things on the crusader. But got the very first Crusader listed on the ship list that reached Ishum.Ive taken a T10 to Sag A without an issue, in fact it was a blast.
Yes it handles like an old Jag but i had a modest 43LY jump with over 670 fuel range and an 8A fuel scoop which has removed some stars from the map.
Best thing was the view, easily on par with my explorerluga.
Could you please explain the Supercruise Range? I am unfamiliar with the range you are referring to.Thanks to the massive cargo bay and (relatively) small sensors and life support, its maximum supercruise range is 158ly, farther than any other ship![]()

It's there to separate the true pilots from the wannabes. Wannabes will scrape that thing on the mailslot every single time. I am one of them so I knowCan someone point out how I can detach that eyesore Spoiler on the T10?If enough of us cries, do you think Lakon will listen to us and remove that spoiler or at the least give us an immersive narrative. I cannot think of any.
Good to know! Thanks! The third phase of Colonia Bridge is planned for the beginning of January. The frist two CGs had pre-enginered FSD rewards.
During development there was talk of hiring npcs to help crew the bigger ships otherwise they wouldn't fly properly. Such as turrets wouldn't fire and scanners wouldn't be useable by the pilot. You would then have to pay the crew wages or they would walk out.WOAH!!!! Those blueprints did not do any justice portraying the size of this thing!!! I imagined the ship is huge, but this really puts it into perspective. I am not too sure any more making the jump into this thing from my lovely DBX.
I really really wish ED had option for NPC crews beyond SLF pilots. A ship size as this is no way designed to be flown solo. A true immersion breaker.
Well, thanks to @Codger , I now have something to think about. I took a krait phantom once to try it out and collect engineering mats from crystal shards. I had trouble finding a landing spot due to very rough terrain. I cannot imagine landing this next to shard sites. I did the same mat collection in DBX and had no trouble. Thing is, I WILL land on planets, lots.
I guess I can always rent one T10 and try some surface landing, SC manoeuvring etc. to get a real feel. I may sit in the cockpit and decide nope, not for me.
That would have been such a nice feature to keep!! That definitely adds realism and Immersion to the game.During development there was talk of hiring npcs to help crew the bigger ships otherwise they wouldn't fly properly. This was in the old games of Frontier Elite, not sure why it was dropped.
Phantom definitely is a good explo ship. It just is not appealing to me. Same goes for Anaconda. May be my like of Lakon has something to do with it. I just can't picture myself in an end game Anaconda despite it being a truly, wonderfully multirole ship. The same goes for other available ships suited for different roles which are not Lakon. Sure Lakon gave us AspX which is quite good explo ship for any serious expedition. Just can't stand the engine sound. LoL.I had both types, for exploration I wouldn't use anything else than my Krait Phantom although I've done most of my early long range exploration on my Anaconda.
Handling isn't good enough with those two heavies, it's already marginal with the Anaconda which demand attention when negotiating a star, even with the Krait Phantom you can hit problems when trying to land on some Guardian sites because its footprint is too large, although it is not a large ship.
The Type 7 was replaced promptly by a Python after I managed to mess up a transport mission in Rodentia because the docking pad was too small, the Python on the other hand can carry more than enough for my needs, dock on medium pads and is heavily armed, I traded tons of titium and other goodies in support of my Fleet Carrier, got myself a few kills in the process as well.
Type 9 and type 10 are very good transport ships for heavy loads from large stations to large stations, but I don't need such a ship...
They all look really good and i wish you many happy months of exploring, but if you really want to do it in style, there is only oneThat would have been such a nice feature to keep!! That definitely adds realism and Immersion to the game.
I already pay my SLF AI and would not mind to pay other AI helpers for the convenience. Having a large ship with many paid crews would just mean that much more challenging to make profit.
So, here is my shiny brand new T7, to be replaced in future with a T10 when financially and mentally able!

After much pondering and taking into commanders feedback, I have decided to go with a T10. I am in no rush to get there right away. When I opened this thread, I was trying to figure out my 3rd and final ship which would complete the immersive (realistic) lifestyle I was after. With the interim selection of T7, it really now completes the circle.
Currently, I own 3 ships and dont want to own any more.
1. DBX
This is my personal ship to run around, go somewhere fast, material gathering and occasional hunt pirates/bounty hunt in hazres.
2. Crusader
HazRes, CZ. Sometimes I take it on short range exploration with SLF. I have sentimental value for the Crusader, since it took me to Sag A*, Beagle Point and Ishum's Reach. I am not afraid to go shieldless in this thing.
3. Type-7 (future T10)
I needed the third ship to do cargo/pax runs, deep core mining, exploration and just do 'jobs' with imaginary compliments of crew. It is clear to me now that both T9/10 can be used as exploration if one is willing to accept the drawbacks happily. I think what I want to do, T10 fits nicely, better than the T9. I can turn a T10 into a truly multirole ship for me.
I am far from credits to take that route at this moment. So, a T7 is going to fill the role for now. Since I cannot do any deep core mining in it, I think I will the crusader for that for now. A virtual ship build shows me it is doable and will give me a chance to experience how I feel about filling a 64T cargo. I can always laser mine in the T7.
I have fitted the T7 with long term exploration with the modules that I have in my disposal. I am quite happy with how it looks. Furthermore, I am even able to have a 64T fuel tank if I want to for my planned Galaxy's Edge expedition. If Lakon decides in future to put a medium hardpoint, who knows maybe I will stick the T7 for a very long time.
I am quite happy with my ship selection. I was able to stick with Lakon with ships that I will actually enjoy for an immersive space lifestyle.
Here are my final long range deep space exploration builds. All of them fitted for super long term expeditions and not based on max jump range:
DBX - VIKI
Crusader - ADRI
T7- AMITY

I have been hauling PAX in my newly acquired T7, just to get a feel of the ship before I take it on a serious explo. With an A rated Low Emission power plant, it is not bad at all in the heat department. I also have been trying out some deep core mining in my Crusader. No, it is not an ideal ship, and that's what makes it interesting. I have been having a Blast with it, literally.
My reason to reach out to T9/10 was the ability to mine. But with my experience with Crusader to fill 64T, I don't know if I really need a bigger ship to mine. Between my DBX, Crusader and T7, I just may be content for now while I build cash reserve to go T10 in distant future if I choose to do so.

Quite many people used t-9/10s for DW2. And i can say that both ships have very good cockpit view.
Ok, thats it, if @Orvidius says he is a T9er and T7er, I got no more doubt about these 2 ships.T9 in DW2, right here.I flew it for about half of the expedition. My plan was to use it for mining at the two CGs, and nothing more. I ended up flying it for the entire period of time between the two CGs, which was about half of the expedition. The only reason I switched off was because I was missing the smaller/faster handling of the lighter ships. But I didn't hate the heavy/slow handling of the T9 the way I expected to. It was a very capable explorer. Even with multiple SRVs and SLFs installed, I was getting low-40s jump range, which wasn't bad for a heavy build.
Some of the wonderful things about the T9 is that it has probably the best cockpit view for VR, and the only two ships in the game with more unrestricted optional internals are the Anaconda and Beluga.
The fact that it's a flying box container adds to its charm, in a weird sort of way, IMHO.![]()
For a second I thought the reply was made by Rick. They all look really good and i wish you many happy months of exploring, but if you really want to do it in style, there is only one

You're going to get the best results by optimizing ships to particular roles, but if you needed a multirole ship, it's a good pick. It's the biggest of the main explorer ships, so extra goodies affect jump range less.I really can't call the Anaconda Multirole, its footprint is huge which limits it to large docking pads and even more the type of terrain where you can land, if you want range you end up with a whale when it comes to maneuverability which is why I didn't try to lower the thrust too low, I want to be able to land safely everywhere and you need good thrusters for that.
Then In combat it can't hold a candle to a Corvette or FDL, so no, definitively not multirole, where it excels is long range exploration, and I started with it, but now, with the fit I adopted for my Krait, I get between 55.48 fully loaden and 60.34 Ly jump range out of it and it is a lot more manageable around stars, it can carry over all missions including Guardian sites although in some cases its footprint is already limit to being too large.
With the Anaconda you always end up suffering some damage negotiating stars after hours of jumping, one make mistakes, the Krait will get you out of those situations.
I did find a niche for my Anaconda, doing passenger missions in CEOS with 10 passenger cabins, striped down, no shield, I can manage up to 60 million/hour with it, it is the ship which allowed me to buy my Fleet Carrier, no other ship would do that, but since I'm tired jumping every mn or so for thousand of Ly, I use my Carrier and the procedure is different.
I've been to Colonia and back to Wolf 363 twice with it since I got it end December 2021, all I need is to make money to fill up the tank, which I don't mind, and I carry my Krait, two Pythons (one optimized for armed transport and the other for mining), and the Corvette for bounty hunting.
I think this combination gives me the most flexibility for long range exploration, once the Carrier arrives in a system I can take the Krait and explore other systems or just get there and honk them in mn, trade or mine, exploration alone doesn't appeal to me anymore because jumping becomes too repetitive.
Then when it comes to mining, I used a Cutter but again, got bored having to use the number of limpets it could carry and it also maneuver like a pancake between the rocks, I figured 128 limpets is as much as I can bother mining at once, but I understand the appeal of larger ships, I tried the Type 10 for mining too.
In my humble opinion, there are no real multiroles in this game, ships need to be optimized to get the most of their stock capabilities and that's why I'm pleased with my Carrier since I get to chose which ship I'm going to use next once I get somewhere with it or simply jump to the next stop.
i land anywhere i plant the thing: buildings dont stand a chance if they had physic onI'd not pursue an exobiology career in T9/T10, though. Landing these behemots thousands of times to scan space cabbage would be a challenge.![]()
I could mine with my Corvette all the same, it won't be good at it, as for the Anaconda, it won't be able to do half of the missions my Krait Phantom is doing, landihg on medium pads, Guardian structures ruins are two examples, reason why I replaced my T7 for a Python, and a Krait and Python are a lot easier to handle while mining and negotiating stars. You're going to get the best results by optimizing ships to particular roles, but if you needed a multirole ship, it's a good pick. It's the biggest of the main explorer ships, so extra goodies affect jump range less.
Here's one that does 65ly with a basic combat loadout: https://s.orbis.zone/hrx0
And one that can do mining: https://s.orbis.zone/hrx8
Granted, there isn't really any need to do so, since there's nothing to fight out in the black and there's no reason to do mining away from a station or carrier, but the option is there![]()
