Maybe a February date for U11 was slated for mention in the January round-up, but as it didn't happen because of...

Yeap, this. 👆

The only announcement i remember was "Early 2022" sometime in last December

But no complains from me.
My own estimation was sometime a bit over mid March, so March 8th is Early :)

Greetings Commanders

This is a brief post to let you know that the release of Update 11 has been moved to the 8th of March. This will allow the development team more time to properly prepare content such as Fleet Carrier interiors and include other fixes.

The new release date is subject to change, however if it does we will let you know in advance.

Any news on when the fix is coming for the CG rewards that you told us not to modify with an experimental but pretty much everyone did?

if your "fun" doesn't make you millions of credits in passing ...then it's highly unlikely you were playing for fun to get your carrier. So that person suddenly caring about only playing for fun doesn't seem very genuine. And if you were playing for fun to get your carrier, then continuing to play for fun will easily make upkeep irrelevant, the same as anything that cost credits is irrelevant for such players.

That's why the argument against upkeep is silly and doesn't make sense. The kind of player where it matters just doesn't exist. It's a concern only carried by players who it doesn't impact have.
Your opinion. These arguments ALWAYS end the same way.

Activites like either combat, exploration or trade? Things that you do anyway, when you play the game?

What would be ludicrous would be to remove the mechanism for culling carriers belonging to people who no longer play, carriers that only serve to block all available orbits in interesting systems. Upkeep is tiny anyway but they do eventually time out.
How much poop would you be ok with in your brownies?
My opinion is my opinion. I don't like the upkeep. No amount of berating me is going to change my opinion.

I can assure you that I've never followed a road to riches meta, and yet my wallet keeps growing. I don't even trade with other players. The only scenario where I can imagine this being a problem is if a casual player, who perhaps only plays for an hour a month, "has to" resort to one of the well-known cash flow meta-activities. But in that case I would ask the player why and for what they think they need a fleet carrier in the first place...
Why do people have to have several pairs of shoes when they only have two feet? It isn't a matter of need.

it is true, when someone repeatedly says something wrong and everyone tells them so, the discussion always ends the same way.

your like or dislike of upkeep is not in question, nor does it matter. Upkeep is not a hardship nor does it impact the gameplay of carrier owners. Your concerns about them making the game fun or not is based on fantasy that doesn't exist. All you have is "i dont like it" ...you have no valid reason why. And you dont need one, but dont pretend like your reason is based on anything but fiction.

Sort of.
Yea, if you can get the billions for a carrier, you know how to get money for the maintenance. It just makes it tedious. As before you were doing it as you went along, once you own the carrier, you must do it regularly. It taints activities that were once fun with even a little bit of a shade of "now this has to be done IE: work".
A little off-topic but it really is not too hard or even onerous to do assuming you do much at all in game that makes money. I've got mine funded for so long the time is now irrelevant. I did that without grinding really, I just kept working the kinda missions and activities I had done before. Just each time I reached 1 Billion I moved 500M over to it. At 6B banked now it never enters my mind to worry about any given week or even multiple weeks. Been putting around almost a month not doing anything serious and not at all worried. I also made sure I had 1B over the purchase and outfitting cost to start up. Not trying to rub noses in it or anything just saying that with a bit of planning and some early squirreling away you can make a minimal services carrier last a really long time without needing to worry much at all.

FC interiors are for Odyssey only, right?

I believed they announced it during one of the end of the year livestreams last year. Not a hard commitment, but a "we expect to release around the end of February". I think it was during the stream that they previewed the FC interiors. But this is coming from memory, will have to check.

Thanks for the release date confirmation @Bruce G !
That’s what I think. It was the live stream with the official carrier interior reveal.

Sadly, I don't think I'll ever reach the moment where I can join this channel, I am so far away from affording this, let alone paying 'maintenance fees'.
Type 10 massacre missions or Robigo. $5b is pretty easy to come by. Robigo is faster, type 10 is way less work. By the time your doing this, $5m a week will seem like chump change when you can get it in 10 minutes.
