Update 11 Patch Notes

Can we see the NPC ships traffic and dockings around our carrier thru the windows while we are inside?
Looks like the inside of a carrier is a different instance with no connection to the outside of the carrier. I can see ships docking and sitting on the flight deck from the outside. As soon as i am inside the carrier they all disappear.

maaaan, I just got on and all my carrier crew's faces have been scrombled

the good: the redemption office guy, JED JUSTICE, who I picked solely for his outstanding name, no longer looks like a badly peeled potato
the bad: my tritium depot lass no longer has cool wrap-around visor shades
They were transferred from the old "potato crew model" to the "less potato odyssey model". That way they can be seen on the bridge and other places, if they have an office.
Unfortunately, I was attacked by clones myself. All the guard look the same, and the captain is pulling double duty with the refuelling station.

At least the description of the 'Protect' mission has answered the severally swerved question of whether they are available in horizons. Big fat no!

Yeah, well, then why even introduce a mats trader when transferring from the backpack works at the same pace?
What an utter waste of development resources.
person to person is less of an option than person to persistent npc?

by limiting it to something small, the ability still exists, it's just not all that convenient and that will turn off many players from utilizing it in a way that would de-incentivize them from partaking in the gameplay needed to directly acquire such materials that are more tedious to acquire.

The same logic is used in powerplay materials. Forcing players to click a button hundreds of times instead of just buying all at once.

Or in carrier navigation plotting. Forcing players to jump individually instead of set a course.

There's a fine line between the goals of fdev and what they want out of features and what the players want. We just dont know where that line is exactly. but it seems pretty clear, they're not aligned in many areas.

Sorry about the crew being reset, Commander. This was unfortunately unavoidable with the update and ought to have been mentioned ahead of time.

The randomization of Carrier Crews is totally missing.
I keep getting the same 5-8 faces no matter how much i try to change them...

nobody's forcing you to engineer. It's a hamster wheel of addiction feeding to drive gameplay. There's only a tiny few areas of the game where engineering/materials are actually required for real gameplay loops. The vast majority is optional. It exists to keep reward addiction always left with something to drive towards. Something the pre-engineering game didn't have. pre-engineering, it was simple to get "the best" of anything you needed and be done acquiring anything needed to play the game and be amazing. You relied heavily on the narrative for any continued gameplay and that wasn't always available. This was killing the game.

I dont like how engineers was implemented...but it's done it's designed task very well.

Also a shame that we can't access our menus while sitting, like read the news or access the comms system. A surprising lack.

There isn't a whole lot of game justifying all that engineers and materials has done to push player game time up.

Well my wingmate and I have already used the barman "in anger" so to speak .. because he's not had as much time as me to upgrade suits. The 100 limit is .. limiting though. Would think 1000 the bare minimum really.
