Console Update

As someone who had just started planning an expedition that would end in March of 2023, the day before the cancelation announcement, it would be nice to know this. I’ll finish what I started if there’s a point.

Well, since they started to advertise Player events in their new Discovery Scanner Weekly Announcement section, you could have your expedition introduced to the CM team and see what they say in regards to the end date of your expedition 😇

Yes, you are right, but we take R&D out as it is in reality investment, so it should not be part of operating income (as it is not part of cash flow from operations). There is a difference between accounting and reality of a business, and for a company that is is the tech space these adjustents are needed. They are part of the reasons fast growing companies always show a loss, that it actually virtual, but investors should actually be more wary if they post a profit with stalled development.

Well, in this context, R&D could be part of the 6 month+ of extra work to improve EDO engine, rendering, etc.
A direct result of the state EDO was at launch

From what we currently see, it's obvious that ED is subjected to some (maybe more than some) cutting costs policies and budget reductions.

Holy I've never felt so disgusted by a dev as I am feeling with this situation right now. Not only Fdev is absolutely shady and borderline useless but now they put the game on sale on the xbox store for 4 bux this is ridiculous.
Honestly I was leaning toward positivity, you know; "lets wait for them to at least announce propper migration to pc so I wont have to lose progress" and "sure I'll buy a PC I was delaying but maybe this was a good reason to do it already" but after this one... holy i feel, almost as if I was aggressed against... Its offensive to say the very least
How can you have the gall to milk console players even after all this mess?
Never again I am buying anything out of Fdev you guys are a disapointment

I'm really quite happy that it's come to this...

Here's to hoping this could lean to better menu/ui/ux expertiences in the future as well... As a lot of that stuff has the bad smell of having been a compromise in order to have ui/menus that work for both consoles and PC... But which could have been more intuitive were you able to focus on the PC experience.

Oh, you haven't experienced a fraction of the depths they can sink to.
What sorts of depths are these? Things such as not addressing whatever stuff you think they should have?

From my POV Frontier have had a constant and ambitious commitment to improvements and developments to the game since launch...
They haven't had any obligation to do any of it so in a way it's all gravy... I can see you being disappointed about whatever it is that you would have wished they focused more on, but I cant imagine any valid reason to say they'd sunk to some unfathomable depth...

Selling a vast, sweet-ass space sim for 4bux? Surely these must be laws against doing such as vile and disgusting thing!?
Seriously, fella... Get a some perspective and a grip...

Oh honey...
Next time Frontier needs a budget cut, what do you think is next to go, you think? Mh?
I'll give you a hint. It ain't the dinosaurs.

It was not cut from console to improve the PC development, it was cut from console because they couldn't deliver a proper experience there.
That's a big difference.

And Console is not an excuse for poor UI decisions like having to deal with PP item 10 at a time when you need like 720 to reach the rank for the PP item.

Like porting a PC game on consoles ? Yeah, that's sure is ambitious. Nobody has ever done that before !
Well, they failed eventually, anyway.

Fdev always had lofty goals, but they never had the mean to develop them properly.

You mean a 10years old game for 4bucks ? Yeah, that kind of stuff happens.

Have the white knight dropped so low they need to praise Lord Braben for making discount on his game to sold more copies ? Next he'll be praised for having the game on Steam and Epic.

I wouldn't be so sure.

ED is (8 years after launch) still their most successful and most played game. There are more active ED players than on all their other games combined.

Some day Elite will end, but I would guess they are going to abandon their less successful titles first.

So any idea why they would call the last Horizons update was a Oddesy compatibility update ?Do they honestly know what they are doing from one day to the next ?

Thinking more like the sexual harassment among Ubisoft's dev teams, or the possibility that Activision might have helped covered up a murder by one of their managers?

Generally being terrible at communication and failing to deliver a promised expansion is by no means anywhere close to the most disgusted any development studio has ever managed to make me. To say one has never felt so disgusted with a development studio as they do over this just shows off a complete lack of awareness of the stuff going on in broader game development outside of Frontier.
