Elite Dangerous | Update 13 Notes

Is it just me or is there a new popping noise when in hyperspace? Sounds as though someone looped a file wrongly...
(doubt it's related to Thargoids)
 
Just to clarify, are you saying that you also used these settings in Elite and it worked well, or just that it worked well in ATS?
edit: I didn't fully process "ingame ATS AA settings" lol
Just works well in ATS, I haven't braved trying to use NPI for Elite yet. I'm still trying to grasp why the instructions they have you follow work (and why it works so well).

Yeah same, I've been sitting on it thinking about when / if to go down that rabbit hole, but after a year of micromanaging Odyssey graphics settings on a seemingly weekly basis I've become allergic to menus in general, just don't have it in me right now lol
 
Quick report on Update 13 in my VR setup. Performance seems better, with hyperspace tunnel graphics playing smoother now. One exception: both hyperjumps and supercruise entrance and exit flashes a screen/graphic of sorts every single time. Really brief but kind of annoying to see.

The added information to the mid/upper panel when hyperspace jumping is great. The square and boxy panel doesn't look special like the rest of the HUD. The black background is probably there to help with glare but the floating, transparent panel we had before looked better, in my humble opinion.

Overall, great update!
 
Update here as well on the performance: it's really weird. It does run miles better, can actually touch around 60 fps but for me it was the shadows that was killing the concourse frames. Setting directional shadows and the other shadow option on low seems to kill the frames by quite a lot, while keeping them on medium boosts the framerate. I haven't tried ground CZs yet, but will give that a try as well.
 
Keeps crashing to desktop near any settlement or megaship... in Odyssey. Horizons works just fine, and can switch to Oddysey when i'm in place. Annoying.
 
I only wanted one issue resolved. And it was not mentioned in the notes as far as I could find.
But it has been fixed ! That is the jump distance shown in the galmap for remote FC jumps.

Previously it would show the distance from your ship position, now it shows the actual FC jump distance.

EDIT : Sorry, I was wrong !! It must have been a coincidence the numbers matched the frst time I tried it.
But on the second attempt it's obvious nothing has changed.
So we still have the very annoying problem of not knowing how far the actual jump will be.

This may be a non-relevant question, but at the bottom of the ED Launcher, it states:

0.46568.0 (0.46725.0 available, see news) FD

Is this an update to the launcher, if so where do I get it?

I've noticed now when you get destroyed in HIP 22460 you are now spawned in very random places very far away, inside the Bubble which is a bit depressing if you are in a fighter built ship. Can't we spawn at Fleet Carriers or somewhere a bit nearer now Bright Sentinel is no longer shining.

I spawned at my FC when I got noticed by the thargoids and they sent me a nice, caustic, present...
 
Well, that was fun. I was previously docked at Bright Sentinel last night and took a seat in the bar, and i just started the game, saw the cut sequence and immediately after ended up back in my ship close to Bright Sentinel. Then a load of Thargons appeared out of nowhere and kicked the crap out of me, back to rebuy screen...
