Planet Zoo: Twilight Pack arriving 18 Oct 🦇

I be got to admit after assuming this was a nocturnal pack more less and finding out twilight references more to crepuscular behavior in animals meaning active at dusk and dawn to avoid predators and humans in residential areas totally makes more sense why these animals were selected. I live in a residential area in the us and we have skunk, raccoon and red fox right here in the neighborhood and all behave in this matter. Especially the fox they do like to run across the roads in the morning hours here so you always got to be on the lookout for them. I can’t speak for the wombat obviously but these are some great choices for this pack.

I'm late to the party, but it looks like a nice pack that we are getting. Definitely not my favorite, but I'm really in love with the new walk through habitat and the Egyptian Fruit Bat! I just wish we could've gotten the Flying Fox Bat instead. Perhaps later down the line we'll see them along with the Vampire Bat. I trully hope this means since we got the 4
+ scenery pack this time...they are saving an 8 pack for the birds this Dec., which will include the basics like the Scarlet Macaw, Toco Toucan, Laughing Kookaburra, Turkey Vulture/ California Condor, Great Horned Owl, Bald Eagle, Parakeet/ Scarlet Ibis, and a Rhinocerous Hornbill. It makes sense to test the flying mechanics and the walk through habitat first and also use a bat instead of a bird so it's not too obvious what we're getting next. 🐦🦅🦉🦇🦋🐝🦜🦢

In my opinion, this pack has the best scenery out of any pack because it is gonna be very useful in a realistic zoo (basically just a bunch of Halloween decorations). However, this is the worst pack for animals. Maybe it's because I was expecting 8 and only got 5, but the Raccoon, Skunk, and maybe the Red Fox just aren't zoo animals. The bats are cool, and the Wombat is neat, but the animal roster is definitely lacking, in my opinion.

I too feel the Racoon and Skunk could've been replaced by the Tazmania Devil and something else. I just never really been to a zoo that has these animals. I could be completely wrong though. Still cute and fun animals to see and watch though.

*Not Zoo animals to you

Many zoos in Europe love Raccoons, Striped Skunks are extremely common in the United States, and Red Foxes while rare are still pretty important to more road-sidey zoos.

Common Wombats would be the odd ones out as there's only one holder in the United States

Does anybody know how common Egyptian fruit bats are in North American zoos?
Or at least just know of some examples.

Can't find much information about it.
Here is one of the returns I received when looking for information. That Lied Jungle Building housing the bats sounds amazing.

I think it's a great pack for several reasons. The scenery is cool and will let me decorate with a Halloween touch. I don't know about the rest of the world but in the USA most every zoo from big to large has a special Halloween season with at least some decoration. Also, I really like all of the animal choices as all of them add to making a Small Mammal/Nocturnal House. The only thing I would have liked to see done differently is to call it something other than the Twilight Pack. It just seems to ominous.

Thinking about the bat walkthrough, I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t have all of the options of existing exhibits.

So we’ll likely have the option to make each/all of the walls glass, or use the new 2D background images on each/all walls. I also think we’ll be able to toggle walkthrough on/off. I’d like to see null walls, but that might not be a feature yet.

Just realized something, that the Maned Wolf is also a crespular/Twilight animal. This has probably been brought up before, but I gotta bring it up myself. I am not saying the Red Fox is a bad animal to include. But comparing the two, I think that one simple switch would have made this pack so much stronger.
It's almost staggering how much better received this pack would probably be if it had the maned wolf and Tasmanian devil over the fox and skunk. They're both still perfectly on theme, and are far more requested than what we got. They certainly would've been much more impactful choices.

I mean, I'm perfectly content with what we got. But they're definitely some weird choices.

I also think we’ll be able to toggle walkthrough on/off.
I'm expecting it to have gaps where the doors are (as shown in the picture, that big hole the bats ought to be able to fly straight through), with the option to build a path through it as long as it connects to the entrance and exit. Somehow I'm dubious as to whether or not we will be able to give it glass walls or something,

I'm happy with all of these animals. (Skunks are interesting, wombats were highly requested, raccoons were highly requested though they were always going to be controversial, and the foxes come with a ton of cool color morphs) It's a little funny thinking of the previous Conservation pack release. They picked some of the most requested animals, and everyone panicked thinking that the devs were about to end support.

Not entirely. They were below number 30 on the meta-wishlist - they were just talked about a lot by a select few community members which gave it the illusion of mass popularity.
They had me fooled I guess. It wasn't very high on my list because I don't view it as a zoo animal. There were a bunch of people who were extremely vocal about their inclusion, and I'm happy for them. I hope they'll be happy for me if some of my obscure picks get added. I'm told they are active and entertaining. I'll hope for the best.

I'm with you. I do see them as zoo animals, though - as has been discussed ad nauseum there are something like 300 zoos in Europe that keep them - but they never interested me.
