Also, out of interest, I built a structure using the measurements for the walkthrough exhibit, and...well...I kind of hope it's a typo. In the bottom right you can see the size of the normal exhibit. Has anyone ever seen a nocturnal bat habitat so immense? It's about twice as large as any habitat I'd built for the other animals in the pack, and this is all one big facility. Definitely can't see it being suitable for sloths or anything of the sort. Hopefully we can put in, like, two hundred bats to fill it.

I think you're misinterpretating it. It's 12m by 20m, so that's 3 wall panels by 5 panels as one panel is 4m. Still really big, but not as massive as that.

Did they? This is just a nocturnal pack with less interesting species and a different name.

Edit: Perhaps I'm being harsh. I'm excited to try out the fruit bat. I just wish a "Twilight"-themed pack would have something like the crested porcupine.

I agree with this lol

Everyone is saying it’s a massive shock and I’m like how?

Twilight literally is just another word for the nocturnal pack and pack is basically exactly what we expected. The skunk, raccoon, fox and wombat with autumnal and Halloween items.

The only real surprise is the bat.

Well, there's also the fact that it's a scenery pack in the first place. Between that, the bats, the species choices (I mean, we knew them as of yesterday but still) and the fact that they're leaning hard into highly themed pieces after a bigger focus on functional pieces in Conservation and Europe, it's not surprising that this whole thing has been a shocking reveal to some.

Does anybody know how common Egyptian fruit bats are in North American zoos?
Or at least just know of some examples.

Can't find much information about it.
According to this thread on Zoochat, the Egyptian fruit bat is kept in at least 25 zoos in the USA and Canada. They are the second most commonly kept bat species in North America behind the Seba's short-tailed fruit bat.

The most annoying part about that is it being 8m tall. The 4m standard for most buildings can be tricky enough to get to look realistic as it is
The height is also my main issue with this (though the length and width may be smaller too). 8m seems a bit unnecessary considering most nocturnal houses aren't even higher than 3m. I feel like I'll just sink the whole thing partly into the floor to make it look less gigantic.

I'm with you. I do see them as zoo animals, though - as has been discussed ad nauseum there are something like 300 zoos in Europe that keep them - but they never interested me.
yea most of the animals we got in this dlc are more "filler" animals I hate to say this word cause in my opinion every animal have their own unique. yea they are little bit weird choose except the wombat but yea I don't think peoples going to zoo to see red fox or raccoon but if u will see them u will probably will watch them more then 10 mins so I'm think also at this point every animal is welcome addition.

Love the scenery, also lit up fantasy windows are something I've wanted since the Planet Coaster days. I'm not to big of an animal guys,so I really enjoy these scenery packs. This looks like a combination of the planco spooky pack ideas and the planco fantasy/castle theme in a new more realistic transylvannia/dracula style vibe and I ❤️ it. That's what I imagine fantasy scenery in planco 2 would look like + some more non spooky/fairytale items of course, when it comes out sooner or later. But I really like the approach they took with this pack. The texture on these castle walls is top notch (y) 🤔 and the wall torches  ,my mind is blown.

I am a lover of this new scenery we are getting! The past two scenery packs have had a real focus on realism, something that really interests me because I love building realistically in my zoos. However, I think this switch to a more ‘themed’ building set will be really interesting for builders whose style is perhaps more theme park like, or those who want to build seasonal zoos with ‘special events’. I also think that despite there being some stylised building pieces in this pack, there will be a set to appease the builders whose focus is more on the realism aspect. I think it’s fantastic that Planet Zoo is catering to all types of players and all types of builders, proving that any way of playing this game is valid.

The animal choices in this pack are an utter DREAM for me too. I never thought we’d see Striped Skunks and Bats of any kind in this game, due to the former’s lower popularity and the latter’s difficult mechanics. However, you’ve once again surprised me in the BEST WAY POSSIBLE by adding them in the same pack!!! I really could not be happier with this pack, I think this is the most hyped I’ve ever been for a DLC. HUGE thumbs up from me!

I am also a big fan of this pack and the theming already and I would love to get more packs like this. Truth to be told, I am not good ad building and I dont have the time and passion to improve a lot so any kind of "instant theming" goes down really well with me.I usually "have to" stick to sorting habitats by continent so that the decorations make some kind of sense. But this spooky stuff goes well with a lot of animals I think (White tigers, jaguars, crocodiles...).

I also like the stalagmites and stalagtites because so far, i always struggled with making tunnels not look just like... unrealistic holes in the ground. I love the new exhibit type because while I know that people more able than me have achieved similar effects with build elements als exhibits already, I so far have just been...to incompetent.

Ok, had to work today so only just getting to this…. Here are my thoughts (for what they’re worth)

The great: wombaaaaaaaaaat (any new Australian animal is great - wombat is my personal number 3 needed animal (numbers 1&2 going to a wallaby and emu).

The good: raccoon - love these guys.. super smart and cool even though I don’t think NA is badly in need of more representation (compared to some other regions).

The ok: fox and skunk - both ok and I’m glad for those that really wanted them but I’d have preferred more SA or Oceanian or middle eastern animals, all of which have many, many great crepuscular options.

Surprise: bat - great to get them but the biggest thing about their inclusion is the new type of exhibit…. More about that below.

Hmmmmmm….. the scenery - I’m a builder and a fan of more build pieces but, TBH, this looks waaaaaaaaay to themed. Yes, I know there’s Romanian-inspired stuff but, for me, that’s highly themed too and not in a zoo kind of way. Similar to the Europe pack (what zoo is themed on Venice or Amsterdam?). Hope there’s some good pieces here but a lot is going to be stuff I won’t be likely to use.

Ok,…. Now the big thing - the walkthrough aviaries. What do they mean? What do they suggest? What do they rule out?

IMO, there are some likely and unknown inferences:

Likely:
1: We’ll get flying birds. It’s unlikely they’d add a new system, especially one that’s added for everyone, not just the DLC, if this is all we’ll get.
2: Support is likely through at least next year - there’s no reason to add a big thing like this for just one more DLC.
3: It’s likely these will not be super-customisable… Hopefully they’ll we’ll be able to do a fair bit but, at this stage, it’s hard to tell - we’ll have to wait and see.

Unknown:
1: Just because these exhibits probably won’t be more than looped animations does not mean that we won’t get habitat-type aviaries too…. It’s quite possible we’ll get both (though there’s certainly no guarantee or even strong reason for thinking that. On the other hand, there’s no reason to think the opposite either). Both types have always been my preference - small perching birds (e.g. finches) were never going to work as habitat species (because calculating navigation for so many individual animals would be much too demanding) whereas others (large parrots etc.) would work fine.

Overall:
1: good, but not great, animal choice although wombat, by itself, means I’ll buy it.
2: walkthrough exhibits strongly suggest ongoing support for a while (yay!!!!!!!!!)
3: scenery (having not yet seen it all) will likely be much too heavily themed for my tastes.
4: flying animals suggest that next pack could very easily be birds/aviaries. Habitat-style aviaries are a possibility but so is the possibility we’ll only ever get exhibit-style. Still, some birds are better than no birds.
5: mixed scenery/animal pack out of the pattern so far strongly suggests next pack (which may well be birds) will be an animal only pack.

Overall overall: good but not great pack but some of the implications (or at least my inferences) are GREAT!

I think this happens every time where people say that 'x animal would be a better choice than y' ignoring the fact that the animal was clearly chosen because it means minimal changes to an exisitng rig. So subbing the Tassie Devil for the Red Fox might indeed have made the pack stronger. But every pack has at least one animal that is an easyish copy of an existing rig and behaviours which is presumably so with the manpower they've got they can get them ready in time.
What I'm saying is you aren't comparing like with like and given how everyone was champing at the bit for an October release it's not like Frontier can take 5 months between DLC without a huge backlash either. So saying 'Maned wolf rather than Red fox' seems more reasonable to me.

The walkthrough exhibits are a big unknown at the moment - we'll have to see how they work. We just don't know key things like whether they can be used with some of the existing exhibit animals (I'd be more cynical about this if Frontier hadn't already introduced a new distinction between some exhibit species by having some handleable and others not), whether mixed species walkthroughs will be possible, how customisable they are. Really hoping we get a dev diary on this one!

Everything else I'm reserving judgement on cos in previous packs there have been unexpected favourites emerging once people get to see them in action. Big positive here as I see it is Frontier's continued commitment to adding new game play elements and altering existing systems like the exhibits.
