Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

This was a first to me:
Combat Aftermath.jpg

Was interesting, but only spiritual payment.

And then there was this research station (a POI)... I thought I could help them do their research, but alas, I forgot about human nature... In the 34th century, even linguists can not work in peace...
I was prompted to scan the facility, but the prompt was gone before I could read any details. I scanned. Before I knew what was happening, the area was flooded with hostile ships and the station requested support. I was given the choice to either join the attackers or the defenders, both factions I am in good terms with.
Well, luckily for me, I came there unarmed and curious, completely unprepared to fight. So I whispered "Sorry, I can't help you." and got the hell out of there.

ZERO Platinium in both Platinium hotspots I prospected in the location from this video. Looking for a more reliable source.
Parrot's Head Sector EL-Y d83 1 ring A is on the list in the miners tool. Two carrier jumps to get to it and no pirates. It's a triple overlap. Some say overlaps don't matter, but I know I collect platinum 20 to 40% quicker here depending on my luck on the run than anywhere else.
Saikens is almost as good on paper and in the bubble.

I don't intend to spend hours in the field, that's why I have a limited cargo space, I like to take breaks and returning to the carrier is the best way when I mine.

The shields saved my butt every single time I got interdicted, so your assumption on how overkilled they are is not accurate from my PoV, I'm not doing trade or mining for the stake of trading H.P with pirates I have my Corvette for that and then again the shield are very strong with it too, in all cases it's them or me, and thanks to those shields it's them.

I don't use a fuel scoop on this ship, for trading, I fit a 16tons extra fuel tank which is enough to get to the trading station from the carrier and do the loops.
Apologies for "raining" on your Cutter build earlier. When its operating off a carrier all the time the matter of E rated sensors and life support is not relevant. I get the 320t cargo capacity is enough for how you want to use it. Half the time I laser mine in a Python with 192t cargo space even though I have a Cutter that can carry 568t because I prefer a shorter mining run in a ship that's a bit more agile.
I like to give up 16t cargo space in the Cutter for a class 4 Guardian FSD booster. It seems to be enough to avoid fitting a fuel scoop.
Happy mining.

That's why I like laser mining in the Anaconda better. At 320 tons, it fills up quicker. It also maneuvers around the asteroids much better.

The only downside is when you get to a point where it's a long distance from where you just lasered to the next asteroid. The Cutter is just so much faster in a straight line that the distance is covered in no time. The Anaconda seems to take forever to close that distance by comparison.

The other advantage is the additional lighting on the Anaconda from the Hazard pack. I can't stress enough how truly awesome it really is.

I did laser mining in the Anaconda a while back, but found the cockpit position being so far back a bit awkward. Maybe now that I'm more practiced at laser mining it would feel better.
I lack a reason to do mining now, unless I want to build the funds for my second account to have a carrier. That account is only on 1.2 billion right now and a lot of that might get spent on a Corvette.

I think it's all a matter of how convenient the ship is for different players.

The mining role for my Cutter is secondary, I use it mostly for doing trade loops which have been useful since I endly manage to fill the cargo of my Carrier with 23,959 tons of Tritium.

I tried mining platinium but couldn't find any rocks with platinium on them even in the 3 different hospots I prospected so I gave up.

My Cutter is heavily armed and shielded which is useful, since I get interdicted often, I don't bother trying to evade, I drop out of Supercruise and kill the pirate, it wouldn't be possible with a different fit, also, since I need cargo space, I prefer to add an extra 16t fuel tank than using a fuel scoop because not only I have enough range to travel for my trade loops and back to the carrier, but it doesn't overheat, which is the case with a small fuel scoop.

It's tailored for my need, I'm not saying it is optimal or that it should fit every player here, just that it is what I need it to be.

I don't have too much trouble maneuvering in the rock fields, and it cuts through a rock in one go before running out of power or overheating, my main proiblem is to find the right rocks.

As hard as I'm working right now on everything I can't imagine having a second account.
It's a mix of not playing Quain very much for a couple of months and sometimes being between IT contracts and being able to play several hours a day for a few weeks. That got me through the engineering unlocks, and Quain shared a load of high paying wing missions with the second account to quickly build the credit balance.
The second account stays in the bubble to take care of my player faction system influence levels, which takes 20 to 40 minutes a day on average out of the 1.5 hours or so I can fit in in a day.
