The Planet Zoo Community Chit-Chat

By the Way, does someone have Pictures from the Area in Animal Kingdom that will be replaced? I also like to include Stuff like that in my Zoos and maybe it could give me some nice Inspiration for when I can finally continue. Already planned a Building that I call the Discovery Center anyways

But anyways, yeah, I'm not looking for an adrenaline rush anytime soon, in fact never, which is why I prefer to go take walks in the forest or go to the zoo or go to some nature park
Also don't like Roller Coasters. Was on one 1 or 2 times so far and didn't like it at all

I've been developing ideas for "normal-length" books ever since, but none of them made it past that idea stage, mostly because of time restrictions and the motivation never settled long enough.
Exactly my Situation + not getting enough Ideas after the initial one

Since everyone's mentioning what they are writing about: the Story I've gotten a huge Burst of Inspiration for is a postapocalyptic Story about a very small Group of Survivors and that Idea came from a really cool YouTube Channel that I found on that Evening.
I've gotten my Inspiration from this Video

and from the Creature at 1:49 in this Video

Wow, y'all are some real storytellers here. I myself write science fiction, and I designed what I call a galaxy within a galaxy. Because it gets complicated to explain, basically a few thousand solar systems are surrounded by nebulae and separated from the rest of the Milky Way galaxy; this was an experiment by an ancient race to create new life forms and all that.

It has the diversity of Star Wars without the highly complicated "the Force is everywhere" stuff, the excitement of Stargate, and the wonders of Star Trek, and it's entirely within my control to add what I like

Very cool premise! But I get what you're talking about: especially with sci-fi and horror, it can be really difficult to get a good idea to work properly over an extended period of time (i.e., a full-length novel). The clue is often to have well-rounded characters, but even then you need to design a riveting story around that, which can be really difficult.

By the way - I just noticed that not only do we share the same year of birth (according to your profile name), but we're also both from Germany! Hello :D👋

That sounds awesome. Each of those franchises have their unique traits which I love them for, but something that strives to combine all their strengths seems really promising. And that's the great thing about sci-fi – within a reasonable framework, you can basically do whatever you want.

I was just watching my penguins in-game. How they were stretching their necks, moving in every possible angle they can in really life. It's almost like watching the real animals themselves. I thought back to how animals moved in the old Zoo Tycoon days, the original. Planet Zoo has it's problems, of course. Some of the UI is a bit clunky, the pathing system is... well, let's face it pretty damn awful. And it has its fair share of bugs/glitches. And you can never satisfy 100% of people 100% of the time, that's impossible no matter what business you're in. But the animation of the animals is absolutely incredible. Just makes you appreciate how technology has evolved to be able to mimic real life movements so precisely. Or at least, it should to anyone that wasn't born 5 minutes ago. So well done to Frontier I guess is what I'm saying.

🙃 Just looked on your Profile because I thought it would be funny if we would also have the same Birthday and you're only one Day younger

Did you also see them feeding their Chicks? Wanted to take a Screenshot of them doing it once but despite having a Colony of over 500 Birds I couldn't spot a single one doing it, so I wonder if it is still/again in the Game. The Species I'm refering to is the King Penguin. Don't even have the Africa Pack yet😕

I'm wondering what the odds for such a coincidence are. The next level would be us living in the same town or something like that 😂

Really useful and great thread. Why no one has thought about this before?😅

I'm currently not doing more than preparing for my exams, this week's exam is about the internal medicine of small animals and oh gosh, it's really interesting but sooo inhumanely much to study. Just now I'm reading about endocrinology and it's so complicated to understand all the results of an endocrinological dysfunction. Unfortunately it's one of the favourite topics of the professor 😰😅

Sounds cool though. Hope it won't be too stressful

West, actually. I'm from Cologne :)
Relatively far away. I'm way further down in the South🙃

My girlfriend let slip that she's trying to organise a baby-free overnight stay in Auckland for my 30th birthday in April so we can go to the zoo (easily the best zoo in NZ, I rarely get to go). I'm definitely excited.
Might be interesting to see some Pictures from a New Zealand Zoo especially because I also have one in Planet Zoo

It's already a decidedly not-zoo style area. If anything, it's styled more like a county fair. In fact, I don't think there's any animals kept there, or if there are it's maybe a mundane crocodilian and/or waterfowl. It has two rides as its central attractions, a kid-focused wild mouse coaster and a dark motion ride themed around the movie Dinosaur, easily one of the park's best. I understand why they want to move away from such an old, obscure Disney film being a focal point in favor of a newer and more popular one, but at the same time it feels incredibly soulless to step away from highlighting extinct species whatsoever in the push for more IP-based areas. Even a few decades ago Disney was still putting out original rides, like Animal Kingdom's Expedition Everest, but within the past decade everything has been disgustingly IP-focused. It's especially disappointing to see in Animal Kingdom and Epcot, two parks that were meant to celebrate parts of the world that aren't Disney IPs.

Anyway to answer your question, the area is called Dinoland USA and there's tons of pics on Google. The most compelling area from a conservation standpoint is the queue to the Dinosaur ride.

Wow, just looked it up. This needs to be preserved and not replaced with something else. Really hope they will keep it

It's a really cool ride well so my family says , I'm too chicken for that 🤣. The Everest ride is one of the reasons people love animal kingdom although of course I love the animals a million times over the rides. The safari ride there is one of the best African safaris in a zoo I've been to
