You may well be right there. It's the big three that I find the DC becomes a nightmare to use, especially on the Cutter where it is a flip of a coin if it will dock or screw up and need intervention by me to avoid being blown away by the station security. We do need a proper ATC in the game imo though. Presently, it's a free for all, and the DC just can't cope with that, especially on the larger ships where it would potentially crush another ship in the slot... At present, the DC just isn't smart enough to do anything other than just back off to avoid issues, but that then creates issues for the pilots using them.

Don't become an airline pilot, the passengers may not have the same view about it failing sometimes.

A good post! Reped. If I'm doing runs (for rares this week because of the CG), I usually use the time the DC is docking to look up and plot the next jump. As you said, we are all perfectly capable of landing our ships, it is just a matter of using the time efficiently. A lack of piloting skill is not the reason the bulk of commanders use a DC.

I'll give that a go and see if it improves the reliability of the DC. I don't drop the landing gear as the DC does this automatically anyway, but if that makes it work... Great! I'll try some test docks and then post a video as suggested.

Thank you, someone with a sensible comment. Yes, I'm specifically talking about the larger ships, and in good "pattent speak", more specifically the Cutter and Corvette. Both of mine have DD5s fitted, they are far from under powered! The DC just simply Doesn't handle big ships well. Either going through the slot or landing on the pad. I've had it 'Park' the ship a couple of metres off the deck many times (that's assuming it even makes it that far!), while I've been in the galaxy map plotting my next jump. Thankfully there is still usually time for me to manually land when I see that the DC has messed up again. Look, I'm not incompetent, stupid, or don't know how to fly my big ships. I'm not a dip stick that just doesn't know what she is doing. I've logged the better part of 3000 hours in game. The DC just doesn't work as it should do. If necessary I'll make a damned video of it showing how bad the thing is. It misses the slot about 25 to 50% of the time, yes, often due to some other traffic through the...
