If i had backed at the KS stage or soon after, i'd be pretty mad myself at this stage. Those who backed later presumably bought into the whole "It will be ready when its ready" mumbo jumbo.

Opinions vary on that, given that it would affect all players* in Open.... :) *: that might want to visit player populated areas.

Whether it is correct (or not) rather depends on one's opinion regarding direct PvP and the ability to completely avoid it in this game. Equal in the sense that, if there are 100,000 players in Open then that equates to an average of 1 player per 4,000,000 systems - and, at the very least, 399,999,900,000 of those systems would be empty. The point being that the risk is only increased when there is more than one player in an instance and there is the likelihood of hostility between those present. The fact that Frontier has stuck to their chosen design for the game throughout development and past release is the reason that there are an ever increasing number of these threads - started by players whose preferred play-style may be affected by the freedoms afforded to all players.

Very sorry for your experience. Did you purchase from Steam or the Frontier Store? Can you login to the Frontier Store? If you purchased from Steam please refer to the official Steam instructions; under Elite Dangerous select 'Account' followed by 'Account support' and finally click on 'How to apply'. Frontier are currently experiencing email issues. If you continue to have issues please post in the following thread and file a support ticket using your Frontier Store login credentials.

Why would they? The added risk due to other players only affects a vanishingly small proportion of the galaxy - therefore a blanket bonus for one mode would almost always be incorrectly applied. .... and Frontier are on record, several times now, stating that the game modes are equal and valid (and that they know that not all players agree).

Hi SuperG, CIG has no mandate for a 7 year AAA MMO, and as a brand new studio cannot be considered a AAA developer. I would be absolutely fine with CIG taking their time if finances were secured and they stopped taking new pledges and suspended subscriptions. Instead, CIG sold the initial backers on a much smaller, more manageable game, then gradually inflated it with no guarantee that it would be fully funded. I agree that CIG have left the development of SC vulnerable to public opinion, but it is absolutely their responsibility and their risk. That fact that they have taken this risk makes them hideously irresponsible in my eyes, with no plan or respect for the existing backers' funding.

Just ignore it if you don't like it. Don't let the actions of others bother you. You play how you want. Their use of get-rich-quck schemes should only affect them, not you. Some of them maintain that they only do it to avoid the credit grind (although getting credits isn't too hard anyway these days - oh, those newbies that were not around for 1.0, where a million or two per hour was considered an exploit :D). Obviously those people are so focused on credits in relation to their gameplay, i'm pretty sure many of them will quickly get bored when they have everything, and sooner or later stop playing anyway. When you focus on the credits so much, this happens (from reddit):

OP - since FD have repeatedly stated that space legs is still a long way off, and they won't add space legs until they have defined some reason for it to be added and have the features in mind that should accompany that, i can only feel this entire thread is basically like saying "Don't pick your nose" to a kid whose finger is nowhere near his nose. Also, i find the entire tone of your opening post to be rather poor. "Don't pander to the instant gratification crowd" Without knowing how FD plan to implement space legs, we have no idea on whether it would pander to them. Certainly just adding legs wouldn't provide any sort of instant gratification. Not sure what you are trying to say here, except to perhaps label people who want space legs and being part of the instant gratification crowd. Labelling people is a pretty poor way to base any argument. Its basically a case of "If you disagree with me, you are not worth listening to".

There may be an argument put forward by some players that the game should be changed to accommodate their desired play-style, however, Frontier were clear from the outset that all players would affect a single shared galaxy state, regardless of game mode (and now platform). Every player either backed or bought the game with the single shared galaxy state as either part of the design yet to be developed or as part of the released game. Frontier have implemented their published design in that regard - offering all players the ability to affect the BGS / Community Goals / Powerplay with no requirement to engage in PvP to do so. There remains the possibility, from what Frontier published, for multiple Open groups (modes) with different rules to accommodate different play-styles, however Frontier seem reluctant to introduce them apparently preferring that all players seeking an Open game mode should play in a single Open mode (on their platform, that is).

Not arguing that. I highly doubt they are "intending" to do that. However, its a question mark as to what obligations they have should things go belly up. Do the backers have any protection? It also makes you wonder if the real reason that CIG moved from Kickstarter was in order to reduce their liabilities. Of course CR wants to deliver. Unlike some around here, i do not doubt CR has honest intentions, insofar as him wanting to deliver what he is dreaming of delivering (reality may turn out to be quite different of course). I do tend to get a bit worried about fans who come out with comments like "CIG are free to do whatever they want with the money".... makes me wonder about some people. Also you comments about me being a moderator are completely off-base and as long as I don't moderate this thread, and am not breaking any rules, i am free to post what i like. I am not an employee of FD, i get nothing for my efforts except thanks, and FD do not dictate to me what I can and cannot post or set any...

Hi OP. This isn't a matter for ED. If the author's tool has been hijacked for malware delivery, you need to alert them. I've just downloaded the file and scanned it and it showed no virus. The source of your virus might be something else. However, just to be safe, contact the author of EDDI and let them know.

If the poster is wrong, then its a SC fan spouting rubbish. Which i would hope in this case. Of course no secret sources. I do have a secret sauce, but i'm not sharing that! :D And what do you mean by strategy CIG have discussed? Its not a strategy we are talking about. Its about whether the funds backed via the RSI website do have any sort of obligations attached to them that are enforceable under the law. Did they make any legally bindable promises in relation to pledged money, or did they in legal terms actually promise nothing? I'm no lawyer, so i can't even really make a judgement on it, although i might be able to form an opinion if a read the small print.

Oh! The horrors! :D Well, if they are working the BGS against you, work it right back at them! You know working the BGS is a PvE activity right? If you want to stop them, you need to get working the BGS. Blockading people in Open is completely ineffective. Hell, even if they they were playing in Open, the blockade would be a waste of time. Every second you are spending blockading, is a second they are spending working the BGS.

Looks fun, nice idea, not sure how well it will work in reality. "Max power to forward shields" "Sorry guys, mum calling me for dinner, got to go. Someone else will have to control shields" Player X has left the session "Damn it, someone get over to systems and fix those shields" Player Y has joined "LOL, i'm going to disable the shields. Done! Smell you later" Player Y has left "Argh! No shields. I'm switching stations!"

Actually, in relation to this, one of the SC fans raised something for me that is another red flag. We were discussing CIGs use of their funds, when they said CIG are free to do whatever they want with the money they got (seriously, they said this). Then they pointed out (seemingly without concern) that the money raised through the CIG website (the vast majority of it) isn't convered by the same protection that covers backers who backed via kickstarter. And they seemed fine with this. I haven't checked the legal stuff on RSIs website regarding what they promise and how binding on CIG it would be, but if this poster is right, it would mean CIG are free to never deliver on any of their promises regarding funds raised via the RSI website, only on the kickstarter stuff. And if they fail, they only need to refund the kickstarter funds. Scary thought!
